Navy naming ship after gay rights activist Harvey Milk

They were going to name it "Liberace" but the constant swaying of the candelabras made everyone seasick.

That and the damn piano wouldn't stop rolling around....

I'm all for gay rights, but I can image every single sailor who gets ordered there has to be thinking awe frick me. Nonstop jokes. Being Navy doesn't help. And it's a ship that's job is to run a tube into another ship and fill it full of fluids.

You guys crack me up, this is not a combatant ship, it's supply ship under US Naval Service (USNS) designation and will be manned by civilian merchant marines. No officers and enlisted personnel will ever serve on it.

So what? It's still a US Navy ship. Do you mean that no one will be 'ordered' to go on it?

Regardless, it's hard to see how naming a ship after a gay man can make the navy much gayer than it already is. My ship was probably the gayest place I've ever been, and I've been to plenty of gay bars in my life. I feel like I couldn't go 50 feet some days without someone joke grabbing someone else's ass.

It will be joked about Navy, Village People "In The Navy", gay jokes will follow. They'll get over it.
Wasn't Harvey Milk a big anti war guy too?
