This is the most pointless thread I've seen to date... but I'd like to contribute.

I like ATI because they seem to focus more on the middle ground (cuz not everybody can spend $500+ on a vid card ><) then Nvidia. But it's all opinion.

lmao! agreed.

Which reminds me, I still gotta worsh my hands...

Anywho, I'm getting a 6800Ultra in the mail soon (free upgrade from BFG). The card itself is a waste of money but hey, it's free and I love nVidia.

But Navida I've never heard of. Sorry can't help you here.

Oh btw, hey chi nk, I can't quote your message cuz I have "censored words in my text." So I had to change it to chik 😛 Just pointing that out.

Heh, were you around when the FX line came out? ATi fanboys sure came out in droves then. I think it's just a matter of whomever is winning at the time likes to rub it in more than those losing like to defend themselves. That and since the high-end title keeps moving back and forth, each time the need for "revenge" over the previous loss gets stronger.

Since last generation was so close to a tie, things have been pretty quiet, skirmish here and there notwithstanding. Now the nVidiots feel they have an advantage, so they're pressing it. fanBOis bide their time for the 32-pipe R520 they hope is forthcoming. It'll be an interesting latter half of the year, I'll give both camps that much! 🙂

i got my 7800GTx today, i used the autooverclock feature in riva tuner and im scoring over 8000 on 3dmark '05 i must say that i am very impressed with this card. so far it runs smooth with everything i throw at it maxed out.

Not sure why you say that. NVIIDA has very nice 'middle ground' cards in the 6000 series.

Maybe your definition of 'middle ground' is different than mine tho.

Are you serious ??? Was this post a joke?... what the hell are you talking about ....ATI's middle groud sucks donky balls...

Not a single card out does Nvidia in the middle ground.

Radeon 9600Pro/XT, X600ProXT VS The Geforce 6600 AGP/PCI = Win Nvidia
X300 VS 6200 = Nvidia Nvidia Win in price and speed

9800Pro/XT, X700Pro VS 6600GT = Win Nvidia

Please Tell me how and where ATI's focus more on the middle ground ?

If your talking about the X800 VS the 6800 ok a small win for ATI in speed but more features on Nvidia .... either way these still arnt very middle if you ask me.

Who cares in the long run, as long as your current card plays whatever games you enjoy playing.

so fanatical they splooge their pants while typing and spell Nvidia "Navidia"

Hmm, middle ground eh?

6200 TC, 6200, 6600, 6600GT, 6800nu. Looks like plenty of middle ground to me.
If your referring to the 6 day old release of the 7800GTX, sheesh, give them time to get the rest of the cards to market. I'm sure the 7200's, 7600's and vanilla 7800's will follow shortly. This is not all opinion.

Yes, the walls were bleeding ATI fans. But things do come full circle don't they. This thread is just silly.

x800xl! ALL THE WAY, TO THE TOP< NVIDIA CANT TOUCH THIS!!

lol, i like ATI more than nvidia but this is all from past card performance but since its release of the 7800gtx, im really liking the directions Nvidia is going.

I have high hopes for ATI though, so im going to wait until they release a new card and i can see their performance before i make my conclusion.
I do have to hand it to Nvidia with the timing of their new gen. card. ATI is really getting bashed because of this, but o well that makes things better for the consumer (ATI dropping prices to combat until its new line 🙂

What about all the ATI guys posting about how it's a good thing that ATI is delaying R520 because it will help the availability when it is finally launched? Talk about finding the silver lining. Either way, the card isn't out.

Don't get me wrong, this thread is ridiculous and it points out the obvious (for the moment), but I wouldn't go so far as to say that any one fanboy is better or worse than the other.

Oh, I don't think any ATI fans are happy about having to wait for the R520 release. I think everybody simply sighed with relief that we won't have to go through the massive long-term paper launches like we did with the last round.

Yup they are. With 111days of Inventory at ATI things arent looking good but they seem very optimistic that what they are releasing in Sept/Oct is going to do them justice. And the rumored R600 in december is interesting also.

Some of you guys must have strong shins to support all of the bandwaggon hopping you guys do (original poster: I'm talking to you). One day you'll wake up and realize that competition is a good thing and is what keeps companies in check; the fewer companies in the market, the higher the prices.

Even now there's essentially tacit collusion between Nvidia and ATI - do you think that we'd be paying $500 per video card if another company came along and offered the same thing for $350? R&D is expensive, no doubt, but it doesn't account for the massive jump in video card costs entirely - a lot of that is profit.

^ That seems highly doubtful given that R520 is set to launch in the fall.

You could at least mention the X800XL, which is a pretty nice card for $300.

This whole mindset of "Nvidiots" and "ATI fans" is what makes it so annoying to visit these message boards. Why are we even talking about this?

You will find that there is a fine line between annoying and entertaining. This applies in these forums. There is nothing anyone can do about fanboyism nor is willing to try short of complaining about it. Just roll with it man, because if you don't, it just hurts more when you get hit.

I won't say I disagree with you on that, but they exist... My only point was that someone was saying that one group was more zealous than the other, which is false IMO.

On the otherhand... if ATI were to paper launch now, we would all know how the card stacks up against the 7800GTX, so we could make an informed purchase. This way, ATI benefits from the FUD surrounding the idea that R520 is going to stomp the 7800GTX, whether it's true or not. Personally, I wouldn't see anything wrong with ATI giving pre-release R520's to review sites, letting them give us benchamrks, but being up front about when they will be available. I think it is the deception that goes along with a paper launch that irritates people. If they were to do this, at least you'd know if it was worth it or not to wait for R520. Obvioulsy, this is not what ATI wants.
