NAV CD Key recovery

Anybody know of a way to recover the cd key that was used to install norton antivirus 2004? I have to uninstall and reinstall it on my neighbor's computer for them, but they dont know where the cd is, and I cant use my cd key to activate it.

Key aside, maybe I missed something. How do you intend to reinstall NAV without the install CD?

Because HE has a CD... like he said, he wanted to reinstall in his neighbors machine, but he didn't want to use HIS CD key.

Anyways, i don't think you can... i just had a quick look in the registry, and didn't see anything there.

It is stored in the registry. If it's already installed on the system, and you have to uninstall and then reinstall it, you might not have to re-enter the CD key during the reinstall.

If not, it's somewhere under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Symantec\Norton Antivirus entry in the registry. It's not clearly labeled as being the key, though it should be a string of 24 alphanumeric characters.

It is in the registry. Try doing a search in regedit for the CD key on your install (without any dashes between the groups). It'll be there.

Nope. Just checked one of the systems that I currently have it installed on, and it is (at least, on the system I checked) in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Symantec\CCPD-LC\KStore\00000082\00000001\00000001\ with the value named "Key"
