There's already a couple threads on the single user version here. NOTE: This 3-user version only supports 2000 & XP!!

Symantec must be getting ready to ship the 2007 versions because this is the 3rd time this month this 3-user version has been offer through Fry's/Outpost this past month.

Link

$50 less $50 mir. 2d day shipping was around $8 for me last time, plus tax if there's a Fry's in your state.

Update: Fry's has listed this same item in ads valid thru 7/25/06. SoCal ads listed at $59.99 (but may be less - see post below)

Note: (Outpost gives you two extra days- see rebate valid through 7/27). Be sure and dl the pdf since Outpost doesn't leave a link when they put up a new ad.
Rebate link You have up to 30 days to send it. btw, I've checked symantecrebates for online filing and they don't list it there, so it must be mailed in.

ymmv, but when this item was on sale 2 weeks ago, they went 000's at SoCal B&M Fry's even though Outpost had stock

I bought in in store, the reneged on the rebate. Not only did I buy NAV which is the worst out there, I paid full price. I'm not buying a symmantec product again.

Also, I think the 1 year count down starts the first time you install 1 of the 3, if you install the 2nd and 3rd license six months later you only get 6 months of updates, lame.

That is definitely not true: I installed the first license from one of those boxes a year ago and the third last week. The first has expired and the last has a year to go.

I like AVG, but Free is great for a licensed product.

Symantec gets out their rebates faster than Staples EasyRebates. I recently had to call them on a $50 rebate for NSW-Premier 2006 purchased at Staples that they had listed as invalid postmark date. They corrected it and I received the check in 2 weeks. Of course, ymmv, but they seem speedy to me.

I'm going to get in on this one too for the other office computers since they had a one offer per customer and this is a new offer. ;)

Someone find my thread (EDIT: found it), I discovered that Norton may be spyware!

I have been running AVG Free/PRO for 18 months and I don't use it as much anymore.

Over the corse of 8-10 days, I tried 8 differant Anti-virus scanners: Norton, AVG PRO/Free, Panda, NOD32, Trend Micro PC-cillin, Bit-defender, Sophos, and Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic; all of them missed virus' i had on my computer. As a last resort I downloaded an opensource AV scanner called clamwin and it found some viri that had been on my hard drive since early 2004! I highly recomend this free open source project.

http://www.clamwin.com/

Please not that claimwin is very effective at finding viri but at the same time it is very slow. Scanning 680GB of Data stored across three HDD's took several days to complete. So it is recomended that you scan one volume at a time. Also a fast processor with lots of ram is highly recomended.

MY PC: P3 Tualatin SL657 1.4GHz 512K Full Speed Cache with Crucial 512MB PC133 CL2 and Hitachi 7k250, T7K250, and a Western Digital Mybook Premium 320GB.

Fry's did run this same item on Friday's ad, BUT for $59.99 - $50 mir = $9.99 plus tax and your driving expense.

So the Outpost.com offering is best. Note: The rebate is just for this current ad week (check the rebate form as it probable allows you to order through next Thursday, whereas Fry's ad pricing ends on Tuesday).

At various times throughout the year I've performed a clean OS install on several on my customers pc's. When they ask me to install their copy of NAV 06 it never gives me a full year anymore. YMMV
