I am looking at getting a LCD monitor. I have read the Anandtech reveiws and I am looking at either the Samsung 193P or the Dell 2001FP. Right now I usualy run my games at 1280x1024 because it looks pretty good and I get a good FPS. I notice that the Dell monitor has a native resolution of 1600x1200 while I would love this resolution for my webbrosing and what not I am not sure if my games would perform to well at that size. So what happens if I run the monitor below the native resolution? I was playing that stupid dellf game (yes I was bored lol) and got a coupon for the 2001FP that makes it cheaper then the Samsung so I am currently learning more towards it. Thanks!

With the rig in your sig, I wouldnt worry about not being able to run at 1600x1200. I would OC the p4, but thats just me. the 6800GT should be enough.

Running 1280x1024 (5:4 aspect ratio) on a 1600x1200 display (4:3) will look all wrong. I suggest you run at 800x600, so the display need only double the pixels. From all lower resolutions, that'll look best.

But, if you're CPU limited not GPU limited, a higher resolution won't change the rendering speed.
