Geaux Tigers!

Yep. Fortunately March Madness is going to start soon to ease the wait.

Blegh, basketball. I got no sports to look forward to until Spring Ball starts. :(

Heh...I like to watch college basketball. Can't stand the NBA anymore. I like baseball too but don't care for the summer months when it is the only sport going.

I normally do, but LSU's meltdown has put me out of it. That and I haven't bet on one game this year doesn't help. I used to know the NCAAB inside and out, but I just haven't followed it this year.

Yeah, that's incredible what Nick Saban pulled out.

As usual, the Bears have managed a decent, but not spectacular class...

UF has a lot of holes to patch up on defense... They did get some decent recruits but that doesn't mean anything until you see them playing as a unit.

Texas was basically done recruiting back in the summer, so signing day didn't do much but make it official. we are officially *stacked* in the secondary & fozzy will be a great addition to the backfield.

lol @ usc recruiting 3 more running backs. that brings their total up to what, 20 now?

aaah.. Arkansas really stunk it up.. they are toward the bottom of the SEC, along with Miss. St.

Arkansas can't even keep their home state players in their own state. Three of the states top recruits were signing elsewhere..

After McFadden & Jones leave for the NFL next season, the 2008 season will be a long and gloomy year

I dont get it... why would the number 1 and number 2 running backs both sign for the same team? Same goes for the 30 and 32 ranked RB's that USC signed...

I could see the number 2 maybe thinking he could outplay number 1 and get the spot, but why not just sign with a different team and be guaranteed a starting job?? The two guys ranked 30 and 32 will never see any playing time.. why not just sign with a different school?

because they're morons. that, or the lower ranked guys committed first, and once the top 2 guys committed it was too late to go anywhere else so they were stuck.

Kodi Burns and Lee Ziemba to Auburn. :) To be honest though, Ziemba was Auburn's to lose...both his parents are Auburn grads.

Arkansas never really recruits at the top levels. They are consistently ranked in the 20-35 range when it comes to recruiting. As much as I think Nutt is a real nut, he does a good job of coaching up the talent he brings in.

If there were any coach that needed dogging over recruiting this year, it would be Texas A&M. How you can be a major football school in the fertile recruiting state that is Texas and be ranked 39th in recruiting is beyond me.

The #1 RB, McKnight is more of a Reggie Bush type player. He'll be put in the backfield and out in the slot more than likely. I think USC has shown that they can spread the ball around to all the different weapons on their team (see Bush, White, Leinart, and the WRs they had the year they won the MNC).

SEC schools are so dirty when it comes to recruiting. Auburn 30 LOIs? Tennessee 32?!!?? You can only have 75 scholarship players. That means these schools sign kids with the HOPES that some will not even make it into school do to grades or get kicked out of school for other reasons.

What's so dirty about that? Some of the recruits count against last year's class numbers and some are JUCO guys. Many schools use the sign & place method of recruiting because it just happens that some kids don't qualify. Place them in a JC for a year or 2 and bring them back in. The greyshirt can also be used for some that are right on the edge. Don't be mad that the talent wants to come down South to play football.

First, you can have 85 scholarship players. Second, you can only sign 25 in one year. Last, this isn't just an SEC thing. It is pretty common for schools everywhere to oversign. For the kids that don't sign, it is common that they go to JUCO and come back two years later with two years left to play or go to a prep school and come back one year later with four years left to play. There is even another route in which kids are "greyshirted" meaning that they pay their own way for the fall semester and then become scholarshipped for the Spring semester and count to next year's class.

same with rutgers in the past years. many top jersey products were signing somewhere else until schiano came to keep jersey kids home. otherwise, schiano is recruiting kids from florida in revenge of jersey kids going to florida.

rutgers will be the team to beat in big east.

edit: schiano's next stop is to keep jersey kids stay home instead of going to notre dame.

five of espn top 150 are from jersey and two of them going to notre dame, one going to florida while two are staying home (rutgers.)
