National security adviser puts Iran 'on notice'

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump's national security adviser says the administration is putting Iran "on notice" after it tested a ballistic missile.

Michael Flynn told reporters Wednesday that the Trump administration "condemns such actions by Iran that undermine security, prosperity and stability throughout and beyond the Middle East that puts American lives at risk."

He says "Iran is now feeling emboldened," criticizing the Obama administration for failing "to respond adequately."

Flynn says that "we are officially putting Iran on notice," although it's not clear what he meant.

A defense official said this week that the missile test ended with a "failed" re-entry into the earth's atmosphere. The official had no other details, including the type of missile. The official was not authorized to discuss the matter and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Who's ready for a 4th concurrent regional war?

I guess Flynn will finally be allowed it scratch his perpetual Iran itch.

It's Bannon who concerns me when it comes to potential for conflict. The guy is obsessed with war from a hobby standpoint.

A convergence of worrying factors here. Flynn's had it out for them forever, Bannon wants to play general to stroke his fantasies, and Trump may have promised the Saudis to mess with Iran if they play nice with him (subtracting Iran's oil exports would be in their favor).

I have no idea what "putting them on notice" means. Does that mean "hey, we're keeping an eye on you!" (as if everyone didn't know that already), or "next time we're going to rough you up" ... or?

Maybe just wanting to say something to look tough?

I'm going with wait for some kind of incident (like the US sailors who were way the hell off course) and use it as a pretext for an attack.

Are people really going to fall for this shit again?

Yep. I fully expect this admin to amp up any and all slights from Iran in their push for war with Iran.
The question seems to be, when not if, will we be going to war with Iran?

If we think the middle east is a shit show now just wait until Iran is destabilized.

I don't think ISIS could be any happier with a trump presidency, he's playing right into their hands and their desire to have their great end of days battle.

You mean... pandering to well cultivated Iran hate for domestic political purposes? Couldn't be!

ISIS, or al-qaeda 2.0, is a boogeyman created by America and the West to play out their Great Game.

We are going to make the Middle East great for Israel and for a few select men in the US. That is the end goal. ISIS, Iran, whoever else are just used as scapegoats to carry about this policy.

Not much to see here (at this point at least). The UN is also currently taking action (meetings and a stern letter are expected).

Give it two years and they will have their drones shitting themselves convinced another third world country has a vast WMD arsenal. Some nut kills people in a terror attack and it will start. Kill another half million people, maybe a million, Trump will want to do it bigly. Who knows, maybe drop a nuke, why can't we use them?

Waste trillions again and don't question another unjustified attack, support the troops, watch fox and maga. Maybe if there is another attack the media will actually show the devastation on the ground instead of doing the 'embedding' they used last time.

Hillary's past is that of a hawk. Sorry. Trump? He's clearly not an option either. Both supported Iraq and neither called for justice.
Of course.

Here she is sucking up to AIPAC and showing her "love" for Israel:

Every top US politician must kiss up to Israel to even have a shot at being elected. And that means making the Middle East weak so Israel can always be dominant.

The one country that can possibly spoil that is Iran, so naturally, America is trying its best to weaken it by whatever means.

This is probably very racist of me, but I find the prospect of going to war with Persians a hell of a lot worse than any war fought against Arabs. Can't we all just be friends and kill ISIS together, Iran???

Trump needs a big distraction to get those approval ratings up and brand his opponents as traitors. So expect fireworks.

ISIS is not what your media tells you. And how can America kill off ISIS when its in America's interests that ISIS survives and thrives?

Those new pickup trucks with brand new ISIS flags on them that your media always shows you - well, that's an image that they want to create. That ISIS is running around in pickup trucks taking over towns and doing this or that.

In what world will a trillion dollar military war machine let a bunch of thugs in pickup trucks take over huge territory in the Middle East? In this crooked and lying world. It's all by design.

It really doesn't matter what kind of rockets the Iranians have w/o nuclear weapons to go with 'em. They're the same sort of rockets used to launch satellites, anyway.

The Iranian threat is a big lie just like the big Iraq threat was a lie; just like the big Afghanistan lie was; just like the big Libya lie was. On and on.

But the patriots and nationalists are whipped up into this frenzy with fear and war mongering. The average person loses his reasoning and critical thinking when presented with such phony threats such as the ones above. When that happens, the average person supports governmental terrorism called war.
