Political calls are not subject to the Do Not Call Registry. Do you think this should be changed?

This group is attempting to do a voluntary one;

Citizens for Civil Discourse, also known as CCD is an American non-profit, non-partisan organization that operates a website which accepts Robocall block requests from citizens The block requests have no legal standing, however as of late October 2008, they are voluntarily supported by 3 Democratics and 3 Republicans

Unfortunately the right to privacy is not explicitly set forth in the Constitution, which was drafted way before Alexander Graham Bell's time. At best we now have a right to privacy implicit in the Constitution as recognized as the basis of the Court's decision in Roe v. Wade, but who knows how long that case will remain law, especially in this day of homeland security.

Even with a firmly established right to privacy, barring such calls would interfer with political speech, and freedom of speech is probably the single most important right under our Constitution.

My suggestion-invest $15 in an answering machine.

He brought up a good, valid, non-partisan point. Don't troll here.

Techs is only necessary if Google, Yahoo, or CNN go down.

Yep, and I don't scour the internet looking for political news. I personally hadn't heard of this until this thread, and am now checking into it.

The ONLY thing that should be exempt from the do not call registry is when the police sometimes robo-call a bunch of homes in an area because of a convict they're looking for, NO FVCKING EXCEPTIONS.

Exactly my fear whenever you say anyone cant say something to anyone else;

You should have no right to NOT be talked to, that's ridiculous. It's the definition of the abridgment of free speech.

But you should have the right to inform people not to call your home phone.
Calling someone is not free speech.

:thumbsup: I am to the point of wanting to get rid of the land line (FiOS actually) because I get so much spam. I would estimate over 50% of the calls I get are solicitations. Unsolicited telemarketing should be banned. Period.
