I got my free issue of NG this month thanks to hot deals....

anyway i made a observation. On the inside cover is a picture of one of their journalist posing with about 8 African kids infront of a hut. The thing is all the kids under 10 or so are naked. How can they publish a picture and not have people scream "Child Porn". There have been people sent to jail for taking pictures of their kids playing in the bathtub, because the person who deveolped the pictures called the cops and made a complaint.

another question is why is it "OK" to show a African woman naked but to show a White woman naked is "pornographic"?? and dont give me the crap "well that is how they are over there"

Let me say i have no problem with nudity and practice it quite often. however, i bet there would be no way NG would publish full frontal naked WHITE kids or full frontal WHITE women.

National Geographic is an extremely respected periodical. It's like Pee Wee Herman trying to raise a fuss about the Ronald McDonald House: ain't gonna happen.

This is just my opinion on the topic - but for something to be pornographic, there has to be some sort of sexual arrousal intent. A national geographic magazine showing pictures of people in their native lands, clothed or not, does not have sexual arrousal intent. They are simply showing people of different cultures the way they are, covered or not.

Also, 99% of people who purchase/read NG do not do it for the nudity, unlike they do for a playboy or some other magazine of that nature.

As for your comment about white people not being in there like that, well, there are very few, if any, caucasion cultures that are similar to those of brazilian jungle tribes, or the various tribes throughout Africa.

Do you see white people living their lives NAKED? Do you see them hunting food NAKED? Theirs nothing sexual or pornagraphic about it (I hope not).

True. Remember, native Africans are black because they live in hot climates. You white people only lost your color once you went to colder climes where it would be dumb to run around naked.

Exactly. It's people in their native environment. That's like cultures in Africa who wear nothing but penis gourds. They wear an elongated gourd over their penis. The scrodum is not covered at all, and the women are 100% nude. They're culture is against other forms of clothing. If you took a picture of a business man crossing the street to them and showed them that this is what your culture is like (as in what the documentary on Discovery did when I watched it), they wouldn't like it, but they would understand that it's your culture as well.

According to current theory, life originated in Africa, yes.

see thats my point, it doesnt in our society. here in denver there is a chain grocery store owned by kroger. well about a year ago they started to put a metal cover on magazine racks at the check out because of magazines like Maxium, Vouge, Cosmopolitan, Elle... had cover pictures of models and if you looked really really hard you might see a nipple....

por·nog·ra·phy (pôr-ngr-f)
n.
1) Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.
2) The presentation or production of this material.

National Geographic presents those pictures as documentation of other cultures, not to cuase sexual arrousal.

Also, I've seen naked white peoplein national geographic at least twice. There was some nudists in a park in some European country, and also at some orphanage or something in a former USSR country. I may have seen more, I can't remeber every nat'l geographic I've ever looked at.

I thought this was common stuff that you learn in Middle school. Humans orginated out of Africa, so, yes, we were all "black" people once.

What in the hell was the
rolleye.gif
for?

because racial bullsh|t is just that: bullsh|t.

Egyptians aren't black and never were, and they're one of the world's oldest civilizations. There are other races in Africa who have been there as long as recorded history can remember and they're not black. I don't believe in that evolution bullsh|t, either.

I'm not sure if everyone was "black" to begin with but we definitly had darker skin, more like people from the middle east. Our skin then changed color depending on where we moved to and started to live. I laugh at those cheesy movies that show Jesus as being a pale, white dude. my goodness, he was jewish living in the middle east.

Of course, this is all IMO so take it with a grain of salt :)

Maybe they do and you just don't know it. ;)

Seriously though, those women could pose in what they consider a sexually arousing pose, and nobody would ever know it.

The eye roll was because people are so bogged down in race these days; I was making a general point, not one about evolution.

People may not have been dark dark black, but scientific theory points to origins being from Africa, whatever their skin color was. There weren't any blonde haired, blue-eyed Africans, though. And while Egypt might have had one of the first organized civilization, that doesn't mean they're where LIFE originated. WHich other races in Africa have been there as long as recorded history that aren't black? Though if you don't even believe in evolution, there's really no point arguing where life originated with you.
