FYI, I signed up this morning and got my email within 2 minutes, and at my Yahoo address too.

Oddly, a couple hours after adding my numbers, I used their "Verify A Registration" link, which is also supposed to send an email. I received THAT email a little under 4 hours later, but still no "registration" email.

Happy happy joy joy... confirmation emails just arrived, worked, roughly 33 hours after registration.

You're assuming they actually pay attention to those signs. Or even know what "No Socliciting" means...

Just registered 3 phone numbers...got the confirmation emails instantly...clicked on the links...now I'm registered - took all of 5 minutes.

Just to let folks know whose states don't have these lists...ever since NY started this a couple years ago, I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've been called by telemarketers...so I don't see this National list helping me much, but it can't hurt.

Comedian I heard last night said...
"The best houses to go to are the ones with the No Soliciting sign. They will buy anything! They didn't even want those signs."

All kidding aside...I am still awaiting my verification e-mail as well.

After not being able to pull up the site the last couple days, I just registered my home and cell #'s. The verification emails came almost instantly, and the entire process took about a minute...

The list deosn't' affect charities. I'm guessing charity means non profit which mean Jehovah will keep calling.
The list also exludes poliititions, and telephone companies, and apparently some insurance companies. Also any companies you've done business with in last 18 moths.

HOWEVER, the previous federal laws still apply, which means you can tell commercial companies that still call you to put them on thier do not call list (each company must maintain a separate one). Then they can be subject to a $500 fine if they keep calling you.

Slight correction--the list doesn't apply to charities but the charities themselves have to make the calls now--no telemarketers or them come under these rules.

I'm in on this deal; or rather I'm out.

of course you all realize this is just the latest brainchild of major telemarketing co TelAmerica, to get all your phone and cell phone numbers for their next marketing blitz for the amazing new product **VAPOO-RIZE**

seriously though, imagine the implications of this site being hacked and all numbers re-routed to who knows who...

Not true. According to the Exceptions section of the FAQ on their site telephone surveyors are exempt, not telephone companies. Insurance companies are out as well if the FAQ is to be believed.

Some of this may be from the misconception that the FTC maintains this list alone. The FCC recently agreed to partner with the FTC and patched some holes, so to speak, particularly in-state solicitors as well as the previously mentioned insurance and telephone companies.

As far as the 18 months thing goes if you tell the company to not call you they have to comply. The FAQ lists no time range by which they are required to comply so it may be an instant compliance requirement. If you really want to I suppose you can submit a "do not call" request in writing every time you buy something. I would. Hell, I'd get little cards printed up.

Yes, but the sign give you a great reason to go off on them, without looking like a total tool. If they disobey my sign, watch out. I regulary tear these guys a new asshole. I do not currently have a sign, I cannot find a decent looking one that is worthy to hang on my porch. Door bell ringers are far more obtrusive than phone ringers. My neighborhood is frequently invaded by vans full of door to door saleskids, and this will only get worse with their phone rights taken away.

All you have to do is say "take me off your list, I don't want to be called again"
Legally they have to take you off. So now I never get any calls from any of them.

you mean "put me on your do-not-call-list, I don't want to be called again".

How do you KNOW exactly how long this registration list is and where can I actually check this?

Also why is this post in the HOT DEALS forum?.............

...Folks this is what we really need! I get perhaps 1-5 calls from annoying telemarketers a week BUT I get from 10-20 annoying, and many times, repulsive EMAILS from spammers a DAY! And the worst part about it is that their Remove from mailing list procedures never seem to work!

All day I seem to get emails for reducing my mortage, increasing my penis and sex drive, descrambling my cable or cries to help some poor guy named OoTuu and save his political government in North Africa!

Guys we need a DO NOT EMAIL list!.............I dread skipping a few days of checking my emails for fear of swimming and sorting thru all this crap just to get to that one important email!

Come on guys....who's gonna start it!?

Can I get a REPLY of support?
