About freaking time. I'm dying to disconnect the Telezapper. It worked ok, but I'm tired of hearing the tone when I pick up the phone. I think it's total BS that telemarketers are able to hijack your telephone and I'm glad that they are putting a stop to it finally.

Maybe this is just a silly thought, but would it be better to register after October 1st?

If you register by August 31, 2003, you will start receiving fewer telemarketing calls by October 1, 2003. If you register after September 1, 2003, telemarketers covered by the National Do Not Call Registry will have up to three months from the date you register to stop calling you.

I've registered nearly 10 hours ago and still no email. Perhaps they are swamped with requests.

Anyone else notice that the number of those calls increased a bit today? Usually its once a week or so, but I've gotten four already.

The 'site reads that it'll be (minutes?) before the confirmation email is sent, but no confirmation email has arrived... how long did it take to receive that email?

I received the emails almost instantaneously when I registered this morning. Maybe you should try again.

I registered (california #) about 5 hours ago and still no reply.
maybe depends on state of how fast the email goes?

Silly question but what are the consequences if a telemarketer DOES solicit you after your ON the DO NOT CALL LIST?

I read that they could be sued for $11,000

Who sues them and HOW MUCH of this cash do YOU the VICTIM actually get????

Your the one that actually files the complaint and does all the leg work to file?????

NOTICE:

I just saw on The Screen Savers that if you used a free e-mail account to register like a Yahoo or HotMail mail address, the confirmation e-mail may have been marked as a "junk e-mail" and is in your junk e-mail box. Check and see if the confirmations are there if you have not received it yet.

I signed up 6/27 at 12:47AM, confim emails came almost instantly. I guess I'm an early adopter....

But, we've had our number nunlisted since it was born 14 years ago, don't get many calls.

registered and got the email almost immediately... it's about time that in October 2003, you will no longer get a call on Saturday/Sunday morning at 8am waking you up just to ask if you would like a free issue of the Los Angeles times or the famous line that they have always use, and i quote:

" Good morning, my name is ________ and guess what Sir/Mam ?????? You've just won a free _______ !!!!!! All you have to do is .............. "

I hope this works for my business / fax lines too :)

Many people must be trying to access it I guess, will try it later.

Try disabling your software firewall temporarily. After I did that with Norton Internet Security 2003, then it went to Step Two and Three and completed.

It took a while but the emails do eventually come. So just wait. No need to sign up again unless you got some sort of error the first time through.

And as far as I know, the money collected from people violating the system go to pay for the system itself. Not sure what they do with the rest of the cash. And the only way companies get in trouble is if you report them. Otherwise the list is pointless.

But if they call me sicne I have a state lsit and the national list, i wonder if they can get sued by both. Hmm.

The site is getting HAMMERED. 5000+ hits a minute. It will be slower than hell for a while.
