i think we should change it to Led Zeppellin -Stairway to Heaven.

MIKE

I am NOT standing to the long version!!!

BTW-the anthem should remain simply to weed out the chaff that try to hit the high note and fail.

That's a pretty stab-yourself-with-a-spoon retarded idea.
Not at all. When the idea of choosing a national anthem was presented to Congress in 1931, "America the Beautiful" was originally considered but got trumped by "The Star-Spangled Banner".

America the Beautiful is great to sing for choir in junior high, but when it comes to patriotism and the country's history, soft and light-hearted just don't cut it. I always find myself holding back misty eyes when I sing my national anthem.

No thanks.

I'm surprised nobody's brought up the "ain't no doubt I love this land" song yet. A completely grammatically incorrect anthem would be embarrassing, yet oh so fitting.

we should change our country's name to STRONG BADIA!

"Come tooooooooooooo the place where the tropical breezes flooow!"

our anthem is very nice, i would keep it. But, does anyone know (without google) what event the anthem is about? NO CHEATING

Didn't Francis Scott Key write it outside Fort McHenry while a prisoner on a British ship, when he awoke in the morning and saw the flag flying high?

Not sure about what specific Fort, but yes he wrote it looking out a port hole at the battle that was going on. He wrote it over the course of a night after being captured one evening, IIRC.
