Nation wide county election map. (838K)
Kind of puts in perspective how little of the country kerry actually got. Damn those city folk. 🙂

The red/blue map is far too simple, as counties that are almost evenly divided still show as one candidate.
Try the purple map at http://www.princeton.edu/~rvdb/JAVA/election2004/.

I like that more than a few counties in Texas even went Kerry!
Oh, that is really the map for national inbreeding, with red being the worst offenders.

/me wonders what the "mob-mentality" effect on the vote was.

Looks like the only solidly red areas are wide-open spaces.Originally posted by: aves2k

Draw the map up however you want. It still adds up to an Electoral and Popular vote win for BUSH.

Thanks for the update there, Ace. We're not arguing about that, we arguing that the OP's map is not only NOT informative, taking it at face value tends to lead to a wrong conclusion. That map would not suggest that 48% of the country voted for Kerry, it makes it look like Bush is supported by the vast majority of the country, which he is if you think land can show support 🙂

Alaska, Utah, Oklahoma and Nebraska rock. They are the only states that went entirely Republican. I'd like to thank them all.
NC voted for Bush in a landslide as well even if the VP candidate was our Senator. We have too many low income/welfare ignant areas to go all red though. Hopefully, through urban renewal we can bulldoze all of these people into South Carolina.
