Indeed. She's definitely got a better work ethic than me, but "smart" is far too subjective.

I'd bet she probably knows when to use "me" and when to use "I"..or "has" instead of "got".. :p

Something I noticed, she had affluent parents to begin with, so work ethic was there, that is all. She took advantage of situations presented to her, not like she was homeless to Harvard like that other girl.

Work ethic, intelligence, class...we're not saying she's the hardest worker on the planet, but give credit where credit is due.

If she was the type of girl who didn't care about penis size, she would be the perfect girl!

And if I were writing for work or a class, I'd care.

Yep. That would be Danica McKellar. She was in Stuff last year. The pics.
Saw her guesting on the How I Met Your Mother TV show recently.

Yummy :p I always had the hots for Winnie on Wonder Years. Nice to see that she's still a hottie.

why is everyone playing up the five language thing, she is only fluent in two.

anyway. she has good work ethic, but I don't know if she is really smart. If she gets a Ph.D. then I'll show some respect, but until then, she is just like you and me, except a whole lot richer.

I don't think that should be the bar

even graduates of 4 years physics programs aren't that hardcore about the quantum physics
Oh I was hardcore man, I was hardcore. :p

Tell me what a qubit is and how it works then, oh knowledgeable one.

Are YOU fluent in two languages? I'd wager most Americans aren't...most of us aren't even really fluent in our own language. And other than a few common words, how many Americans know five languages at any level?

I don't think Natalie Portman is the next big brain or something, but she's certainly fairly smart, especially for the movie star crowd.

Exactly - basically the point of this thread, I think...intelligence, beauty and talent..all in the same person. :p

Can true intelligence really be expressed in psychology? I mean of all the subjects to use one's intelligence on...

You're saying she's stupid?

Shens.

Nowhere are we claiming that she's a 'genius' - but there's no denying that she's intelligent..

Yeah, I'm saying she is stupid.

Work on your reading comprehension.

All I'm saying is that psychology is not a real exact discipline.

If she was pounding out advanced mathematical proofs or something like that I would would definately say she is smart.

As for Harvard, that could be chalked up to her acting and success in that department. I'm sure there were other applicants who had even higher SATs and GPAs that didn't get in.

in·tel·li·gence Audio pronunciation of "intelligence" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (n-tl-jns)
n.
1.
1. The capacity to acquire and apply knowledge.
2. The faculty of thought and reason.

Again -- intelligence does not necessarily require genius-level performance, as you seem to imply. :p

My reading comprehension is just fine..thanks. Perhaps your definition of intelligence differs from the typical dictionary. ;)

Tell me what a qubit is and how it works then, oh knowledgeable one.
A qubit is the quantum analogue of the classical bit. It's made up of two orthogonal basis states, usually denoted by |0> and |1>. It differs from a classical bit in that instead of the only possible states being 1 and 0, any linear combination of the |0> and |1> states is allowed. The advantage over classical bits in computing is that a qubit allowes all possible states to represented at once, instead of one at a time. This is extremely useful for certain types of problems, say factoring large numbers, for example. Using Peter Shor's algorithm, a quantum computer could theoretically do the factoring in polynomial time when a classical computer would have to do it in exponential time. :)
