NAT problem with Win2k Server

insane

Senior member
Hej guys,

I am having problems with using NAT witin Win2k server. I was using winproxy(also supports NAT) but i couldn't get NAT working. So i decided to try another program, Midpoint. After i installed and loaded the program i get the following error:

16:33:06 WARNING: NAT failed to open Driver Service, Error=1060
16:33:06 WARNING: Unable to start application NAT

Since even Midpoint can't get the NAT working my guess it's something to do with my win2k machine. Does anyone know the solution. Maybe a service is blocking NAT. Help me out here guys;(

First place I'd look is in the Event Viewer. If a service is trying to start but can't, or a program tries, but can't, there will be some sort of message in the viewer. The message be cryptic as hell and of little help, but it is a start.

Is Win2k's built-in Internet Connection Sharing Service enabled/started? If so, it might be conflicting with Winproxy's/Midpoint's NAT.

You might want to look into enabling 2k's built-in RRAS (routing and remote access). It's harder to setup than ICS/NAT, but more configurable. insane: Did you try 2k's ICS before going to the 3rd party programs?

Thank you for your replies,

I only tried 3rd party program's for ICS. I don't understand why Winproxy isn't working. Is NAT only for Interneconnections with Ethernet?. I have cable-modem wich goes trough com-port (yeah i know syx but i will get met terayon pretty soon and i want to be finished with NAT very soon)
