Go fast, turn left, go fast turn left!! Woowee Bubba, I think he's gonna make a right this time... nope, left.

Grand touring, rally, and Formula One at least toss some challenge in there. It's not just about who can go the fastest without crashing.

Guys, this isn't the actual race, this is the qualifying parts, where its all about your own specific time. So basically, guys that want to do well with pair up with someone fast, and then they can get some extra push and aero help by the drafting. Er, ok, it is a race (but not full one) so not typical qualifying so I don't know WTF the deal is.

They actually have like a couple of road course races. Plus, while I don't like NASCAR either, F1 was even more boring for several years there. Yay, no passing and no real competition.

I'd like to see a return to 70s and 80s style racing. Can-Am, Group B, F1 was ridiculous as well. Now its all about spec racing, and so there's little real cool advancements in cars. I understand that takes away from the driver competition, but as any racing driver will say, its a team effort, so make it about what the teams can do. Some restrictions wouldn't be bad, like setting caps on spending.

Lol NASCAR. I imagine the same fans would be just as entertained if you sat them in front a couple hamsters running on hamster wheels for four hours. Not a lot of cerebral activity going on with that bunch.

Only if the hamster was covered with ads and its name was Dale or Jeff.

Are they talking about increasing the number of road courses? I think NASCAR would do much better in Europe if they did. Haven't they kind of saturated the US market? If they want to grow, they better look at foreign markets and do things that might help them in those markets.

I had a roommate who liked to watch NASCAR & was actually entertained by some road courses, but the circles were boring as fuck. I don't like racing that much, but have seen at least some of most types of racing. Imho, NASCAR road races have been among the most entertaining, including Formula 1. They should build a nice road course in the Alps somewhere, maybe Autstria. They would attract a ton of Europeans to an event like that, which would eventually make money and also attract more attention to the American brand.

They're not even close to saturating the Us market. NASCAR has dropped off in popularity so much now. They were talking about it on ESPN on Friday. No one cares about it like they used to. I don't watch NASCAR but they really need to do something to boost interest in it again. Maybe fix races so Dale Earnhardt Jr can win or something since when he was winning, NASCAR was very popular.

I am not a NASCAR fan, and this was the first race I have ever watched start to finish. I actually enjoyed it. There was much more action than I thought there would be with all the crashers.

It was a cold, rainy day here, and me and the kids were trapped in the house. I put the race on, we each picked some cars to root for (based on the sponsors). It was a lot of fun! 😀

I don't consider myself a NASCAR fan now, but I will probably watch another race or two this year if I have the time.

Yea, fuck NASCAR now. It used to be interesting (or at least I thought so) but they've really messed it will all their constant rule changes and tinkering.

FIA certainly has its criticism for rule changes. That goes for both F1 and WRC.

Fact is, NASCAR drivers earn almost as much as F1. So the natural tendency will be talent almost as good. With the relative ease of team ownership, it's likely NASCAR drivers can earn significantly more than F1.

F1 still has the most technologically advanced cars by a huge margin and will attract incredible drivers because of that

You link to a form of racing where the final two laps are marked by guys trading paint in the corners while there's not a single legit pass or position change. Congrats, you've managed to combine the worst aspects of NASCAR and F1 into one giant pile of fly-covered excrement. NASCAR is a joke and the only thing worse is F1. I'd rather watch mice run a maze for cheese.

Did you even watch it? They were going side by side at 150+ mph on a road course that's only about 3 cars wide. Glad you have it figured out after watching 2 laps, surely with those amazing skills you've figured out everything else in life by now and just locked yourself in your house to keep the boring out, or in as it were.

If you're watching races for the crashes, you're doing it wrong. You should be watching it for the skill. The problem with Nascar is that it is more difficult to see the skill from the outside. With other racing series, the skill is much more apparent.
