What's the recovery time like?

I'm looking at it at the end of the month and I'm not quite sure what to expect. Pre-op appointment next week to get the nitty gritty but I wouldn't mind hearing about some experiences ya'll have had, either.

yeah i did like 7 years ago at the time i also had my tonsils and some cartlidge/bone taken out of my nose. so my recovery time was diffrent.

but even after all i had done to my nose didn't take long to recover. the worst part was getting the packaging pulled out of the sinus cavity latter.

It is totally gross. That was exactly my response to the doctor when he told me.

"Gross."

But it's gotta get done, I'm afraid.

"What do I have doc?"
"Look's like a nasal polyp."
"Gross."
"'Fraid so. I can have it dug out in surgery."
"uh... gross?"

If it's anything like those stringy boogers that are attached to the very back of your sinus as you pull the tissue away from your nose and feel it snake through on the way out...

Ugh. :hmm:

10x worse.

I had something probably similar. Worst part #1 is that your throat will feel like absolute shit for having a breathing tube in use down your throat for that long. Worst part #2 is if they stuff your nasal canal with gauze to limit bleeding for a couple days after. By the time they remove it you have been tasting blood since the anesthesia wore off and it's probably starting to wear out and you can feel it sliding down the back of the canal hanging into your throat.

no no no..those are minor. the worst is when they pull that packing out of your nose. it really made me sick I never want to do that again.

the pain? the dripping? easy to handle. them pulling that out? ohh hell no.

oh yeah, almost forgot about that. last couple of times the packing was relatively losely attached and I forgot about the removal. the first time the guy litteraly had to get vise grips and pull my nose inside out to yank what he used to attach them with.

Coworker had it done. He said the follow-up appt to pull out the gauze was brutal.

It is what I imagine pulling out a very used Tampon; times two one in each Vagi ... I mean Nostril.

the polyp surgery is far less painful than the deviated septum surgery.

I don't know. Quite possibly nasal polyps now that I know what they are and that they exist.

That was a gold nugget. You should have kept it.

To be honest, I thought it was a wart for a while. On the inside of my nose. Only reason I ended up there anyway was because it was itchy/irritating for quite a few months. Once it started to bleed, it was coming out one way or another.

I had both done in the same procedure. Not fun, and not a full fix either. THey said i needed a second round. It was bad enough that i wont do it again, adn i only have about 10% airflow thru one nostril.
