Space exploration is research into consumer technologies too. Every year NASA publishes a catalog that's like an inch thick that lists new spinoff marketable technologies from that year.

Velcro, Fleece, and Digital cameras just to name a few originated from NASA research into space exploration

I know that, but this is recycling shuttle components. Read the article.

In general I support the space program, but there is more need for other science programs.

If NASA can spin off technologies, why can't other projects as well? They do.

Do you have a link showing that digital camera technology originated in space ?
