I agree. If people were educated and had a marketable skill, then they could earn money and "stimulate the economy", as well as take care of their needs.

I'm sure the $104 billion estimate is over a period of 5 years or so. IF NASA wants to spend their funding toward that goal... then so be it. I'll support it.

The $104 billion price tag, spread over 13 years, represents 55 percent of what the Apollo moon-landing program cost measured in constant dollars

So it's not that big but I still don't see a reason why we want to go back to the moon since not much has changed and until they start building my war fortress on it I think the next step is Mars.

i must wonder why the reentry vehicle isn't some sort of reusable, but small, lifting body, which would be steerable (such as the airforce's dyna-soar project from the late 50s/early 60s). i guess edwards is much cheaper than using an aircraft carrier for the job, though.

interestingly enough, if you take people out of the ghetto, you take the ghetto out of the person in ~50% of people. that is, once poor people are taken out of the concentration of poverty and defeat that is a housing project, people that have never worked before in their life start to work.

The problem is, most of these starving people have like 8 kids each. If we give them food, it just means more of them survive and have even more kids, making the problem worse.
