NASA Calls '2012' Most Flawed Sci-Fi Film Ever

I hope the taxpayers were not out any money. I dont think anyones needs NASA's thoughts on this movie to realize it was a stinker of epic proportions.

Probably not. They probably had some internal discussion about it an unanimously agreed that it was a shitpile of a movie. Then, in the interests of promoting science (a good thing), they simply announced their conclusion.

So, our tax payer dollars are paying for this kind of shlt?

Seems like NASA's budget is a little too big.

Yeah, we should cut it and give that money instead to a more productive sector of society, like Wall Street investment bankers.

I liked Deep Impact. It had its share of unbelievable and unrealistic stuff, but it also at least had some moments where it seemed they actually cared about getting the science right.

I also liked the first half of Sunshine, but after that it was vomit-inducing terrible.

Deep Impact was far and away superior to Armageddon. Of course, this should go without saying.

I tried looking at all his posts this afternoon and found nothing.
Maybe it was for a very old post dredged up from previous days. I've been banned for shit I said a while back.

"For any claims of disaster or dramatic changes in 2012, the burden of proof is on the people making these claims. Where is the science? Where is the evidence?

Science? Evidence? What are these foreign words ye speak? Surely it cannot be of the English language or of the book of God.

Yeah but he does that all the time, I dont see any mod comments saying one was too far.
In fact its pretty tough to get banned in P&N cuz flaming is generally allowed there. At least a little bit.

Maybe it was the insanity.

I enjoyed it more than Avatar, though both of them are pretty stupid. At least 2012 had John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Danny Glover and Thandie Newton.

"The agency is getting so many questions from people terrified that the world is going to end in 2012 that we have had to put up a special website to challenge the myths," Yeomans said. "We have never had to do this before."
This makes me sad.
Aww don't worry, I know that morons have predicted the end of the world thousands of times before. But I'm sure they've got it right this time. 😀
I mean, if the world doesn't end in 2011, I'm sure 2012 will get us. :awe:

If not, it will end in 2038, when the Unix calendar overflows.

Also, concerning any movie that uses "unobtanium" in any remotely serious manner is pretty well saying, "The scriptwriters couldn't come up with anything better. Sorry." Might as well just call it "Substance X", and always say it with a decent echo effect.

Finally, an open offer to those who really think the world is going to end anything soon:
I'll gladly accept donations of all of your money, since you won't be needing much of it following the end of the world. I may also entertain donations of valuable items such as jewelry, savings bonds (even if they have post-apocalyptic maturation dates😀), new vehicles, and so on.

huh....I would think they would be smart enough to know how unrealistic that film would be before watching it.....Maybe watching the movie made them dumber? Yeah, the movie was that bad.....

i don't really care if they take a little time to debunk some major bullshit being put out by hollywood, before some dumbshits start to take it as fact.

considering the amount of bullshit i see on this and other forums, and said in real life, it's a little comforting to see a reasonable scientific authority provide a dose of reality on these piles of shit before someone sees them and says "maybe it works? maybe it works. it definitely works."

maybe maybe fraud

Yeah the plane on a treadmill really proved that! 😀
