No, actually Orochimaru is/was one of the legendary senin trained by hokage himself. Considered one of those "prodigies" that come around once every few centuries. He's learned a jutsu which enables him to transfer his soul to other bodies - becoming in essence immortal. Thus his hunt for a suitable host - "Sasuke". Itachi was a preference, but even Orochimaru is scared of him.

Man you missed alot of episodes - u should watch them - they are pretty good.

orichimaru, student of the 3rd hokage along with jiraiya and tsunade. he left leaf after he was caught experimenting with forbidden jutsus and killing leaf ninja's to use in the tests.

Why does everyone always call him the 3rd hokage if there are 4 faces on the stone cliff?

4th hokage was jiraiya's student and he died in the kyuubi/firefox fight. after his death no suitable new hokage was around, so the 3rd became hokage again.

Yeah, 4th Hokage died in sealing the Nine-Tails into Naruto using the same jutsu that the 3rd Hokage attemtped on Orochimaru.
