Narnia: Prince Caspian Trailer

I think I only read Lion, Witch, Wardrobe book, but is there an order to these books?

I was under teh assumption that each book was a completely new story, but from the looks of this trailer it looks like it has some kind of chronological order to it.

The movie wasn't great, but it made tons of money. ~$750 million worldwide.

There is an order to the books. Some of the characters carry over.

huh?

movie not very good, not great canidate for a sequal IMO

i didnt realize it was a successfull as it was

There is an order to the books, but the stories they tell aren't in chronological order. For example, the Magician's Nephew is either book 5 or 6 (I forget), but its story is actually about the very beginning of the Narnia world, long before any of the other stories occur.

I thought it was pretty good, as good as it can be considering it was a kids movie, without any blood and stuff

Definitely looking forward to the next ones, the CG was top notch too.

It was most likely successful because it was the best movie made that was based on the books. After the movie came out in theaters I got the BBC series from Netflix and those movies were just awful from a production standpoint.

I'm looking forward to this movie since this was one of my favorite series of books as a kid.

As to the order, if you decide to read the books, make sure to read them in the order they were written. If you get the books in chronological order, you're going to start with the painfully long and slow The Magician's Nephew which stands a good chance of turning you off to the entire series. I say leave the books in the order they were written as they're the most interesting that way.

I felt that the script was a solid B. The costume design was pretty good. The special effects were nice too. However, William Moseley (Peter), Skandar Keynes (Edmund), and Anna Popplewell (Susan) were poor choices. I was not impressed by their acting abilties. That goes twice for William Moseley.

Yep. That's pretty much the problem with any movie where kids are put in lead acting roles. The kid's acting the Harry Potter movies were atrocious to start out with but they've gotten to passable level after a few years of it. That's also been one of the stumbling points with a movie version of "Ender's Game".

There are many books in the series...not really a direct sequal or prequal though.

I guess that it is a trend in many cases. I know there are great child actors/actresses out there though. Hell, the little girl who played the demon in Silent Hill could have wiped the floor against Anna Popplewell. Although, I don't know if she is old enough to fit the role. Oh and William Moseley? You could archive a library with male actors his age that could beat him.

I agree with anubis, I thought the movie is bad considers Narnia is a popular book series. I felt they don't spend enough money on the first one consider special effects, costumes and some fight scenes are just lacking.

i'm waiting for Dorsai series to be made into movies.

but i guess it wont happen because the author died b4 writing the last chapters in the final book 🙁

Cool. Glad the theme gets more serious and precarious. The books progressed in the series undertones, and the overall feeling. Lion, Witch and Wardrobe was pretty light, Prince Caspian gets grittier, and by the time it gets to the Last Battle, nothing 'seems' certain.

Narnia = LOTR Lite

I'd disagree; The Chronicles of Narnia are only linked by their fantastical connection, both have mythological elements, from the Classics to Nordic and Medieval cultural developments.
