I think if you understand how organized combat was carried out during this era the in game combat shouldn't be boring.

As for myself, I still haven't picked up this or DoW2 because of the steam crap, so it will be once the gold or platinum edition is on steam on sale hitting the sub $10 level before I look to make the buy decision.

I'm not saying that era in time was boring, but this game is.

MTW2 and Rome are some of the best games ever made, so much fun. Yet, ETW was a disaster. Has a lot of really new cool concepts, but yet too many parts that could have been awesome but were executed piss poorly.

Artillery is useless, Sieges are broken. Combat is basically whoever has the most infantry units. If any unit ends up going 2v1 with any other rifleman unit, you're basically screwed. You start dropping like flies, and then before you know it your whole side starts crumbling into pieces.. regardless you have a very well-balanced army of infantry, artillery, and cavalry. Yet their mass infantry just storms you like madmen and after only a few shots your artillery is useless or killing your own people, etc.

Basically ETW is just you standing there watching your guys shoot back at theirs.

Guns just dont seem to work in the TW world.. nothing can compare to good ol' fashioned melee and bows and arrows. Even though it sold the best.. hopefully they'll realize what the consumers want and make a RTW2.. or Shogun TW2

Yeah, because they're not biased or anything. Some of the best games are European.

I agree, conceptually, they're fantastic. But a lot of Euro Devs like CA take a while to deliver patches. But their heart is in the right place.

I don't know, I haven't noticed that. I noticed the AI is improved relative to previous iterations of Total War, but the only gripe I have is with naval combat.

It's something of a letdown, I have never won a battle on the seas when I was commanding. 😱
