Okay, I am not sure about the other stores, but I am going specifically on the store at South Coast Plaza's Metro Pointe in Costa Mesa, CA.
There are various racks of discounted shirts, pants, and what Nordstrom Rack is famous for, shoes, at massive discounts.
Basically everything that has already been marked down up to 75% is given a red sticker, which gives you an additional 25% off at the register. Also, there are select shoes (ones with a yellow pricetag) that are already 75% off the retail price, then 50% off that price, with an additional 25% off at the register. They don't tell you about the extra 25% off on the yellowtag shoes, but you do get it if you ask for it.

Hugo Boss Dress Shirts - $95.00 discounted to $60.00 to $30.00 to $24.99 to $18.50
Nordstrom Brand & Other Name-Brand Silk Pants - $95.00 discounted to $60.00 to $30.00 to $20.00 to $15.00
Varous Brand Name Shoes (such as Ecco) - $54.99 discounted to $20.00
Ties (Hugo Boss, Joseph Abboud, Jhane Barnes) discounted from $40.00 to $20.00 to $12.00 to $8.00
There area lot of clearance items, so good luck.
