nano-ITX motherboard

i saw on techTV the other day...kevin rose put a VIA EPIA N motherboard into a mac-mini case. that motherboard is 12cm x 12cm, has a 1GHz CPU the size of a penny. the mobo itself could fit inside a CD case. i think its BA.

All I have to say is, I can't wait to see what kind of nano-itx mods would stem from this. I can't wait.
Maybe turning a GameCube into a PC or something cool like that. (Not sure if that's been done before)

Check around there... all sorts of people are making their own goofy cases for these things. They are small for embedded devices... pretty cool huh? I wish i had one. Either way... they are quiet too, no fans required... chip prolly takes about 5 watts... give or take... and that's the idea... cool computing

Where do people purchase this stuff in the US? Mini-itx is a cool site and all but I'm not going to purchase anything from them with those shipping rates to the US.

You can buy gobs of Mini-ITX gear in the USA from http://www.logicsupply.com they have good prices, but be warned, Mini-ITX gear isn't cheap.

The Nano-ITX stuff is not yet available, even a year after the original announcement. All VIA will say is that the EPIA-N will be "expensive" and should be available "soon".

Word on the Nano-ITX is slow in coming. I've been tracking their announcements for the last year or so. The Nano was supposed to be released in Dec. 2003. VIA has since been pushing it back further and further. I wouldn't get too many ideas in my mind if I were you.
