Nanny Cam hidden security camera experience anyone?

A relative house got burglarized recently.

I have an alarm system at my place (not monitored) , but thinking about getting a hidden camera/nanny cam (as a coincidence, planning to hire a nanny for our new little one in a few months also, so dual purpose...). Seems crimes are up w/ the economy sinking... Neighbor's car got ransacked the other week... w/ 4-5 other cars in the neighborhood hit...

Quick search shows most models run 400-500, hidden as a clock, air purifier, motion sensor, picture frame, etc. (I'm leaning towards a plain analog wall clock), that uses memory card to record the pics/movies, etc w/ option to do motion detect.

Anyone has experience w/ these devices, how good they are, recs on models/companies to look into/avoid, etc?

TIA

Not to say you shouldn't do it, but if I worked for you and found out I was being secretly recorded, I would quit immediately.

Just about every employer secretly record's their employee's actions to some extent, especially their computer usage.

There's a pretty fundamental difference between looking at your browser history and videotaping you.

You should, at a minimum, let your nanny know that there are security cameras, if not where. That's the ethical thing to do.

Why do you want hidden cameras? Can't you get plain old motion-activated cameras (that attach to a wireless network) for more along the lines of $100 a pop.

If you're going for security, a visible camera is a deterrent - a hidden cam is not.

Laptop in a deskdrawer, webcam connected to it taken apart and black taped hidden in a paperback book on desk cut out so webcam peeks thru. Thats how I caught my ex-wife. 🙂
