Wretched choices, to be sure. That's why I'm a registered independent. But politics is the art of the possible, which is why so many of us here find ourselves more regularly aligning with one of the two major parties than the other.

I'm no huge fan of the Democratic Party overall, but, flawed as they are, there are the principal political obstacle to a Republican Party which has been infested by a clown posse of fundie fanatics and the shallow and cynical pitchman that either owe their entire political careers to them or have hitched their political star to pandering to them.

Ronald Reagan did a ton of lasting damage to our country.

Dub was a frontman for a Cheney led group that did a ton of lasting damage to our country.

The angry and narrowly ideologically based obstructionism of congressional Republicans today are doing a ton of damage to our country.

The fundamental policies of Ron Paul are not a sane or well-considered alterantive to me.

So it is towards the Democratic Party that I lean, as often as not. But, yeah, it's not a really fun place to be. 🙁

Thank you for wowing me with your vast knowledge....but you failed to post the statistic for the Republicans abuse the Filibuster and if you don't consider that obstruction then well....I guess your going to love it when the Dems return the favor if/when the Republicans gain control of the Senate again.

They passed every bill he wanted?? You must be smoking some good shit man...

You are are the Liberal, right? So, we know who's smoking 🙂 Are you texting this from the community iPad in Zucotti park?

And if you don't mind $800 billion in Stimulus I, plus ObamaCare, Stimulus II and now Stimulus III, I can recommend some nice countries for you to take up residence in: Cuba (warm and great beaches), China (lot's of people to mingle with), UK (don't eat thier food), and so many more.

But, what the hard working folk of this country are trying to tell you is GO. Marvin K. Mooney, will you please just go? Marvin K. Mooney, please go now!

Nancy Pelosi's potentially-damaging information on Newt Gingrich

,... he is really a lesbian woman. Yeah, we already figured it out.

I think Newt would sell more books if he dressed up as a drag queen personally.

Good thing I'm the angry one, LOL. Wow.

Thanks for giving me a good laugh during my lunch break. I'd pay you, but that would go against your philosophy.

You remind me of my incredibly NYC lawyer friend, except that he is my friend, and who owns an apartment in Manhattan and a Porsche. I keep asking him to redistribute his Porsche to me, but he remains eerily quiet. Hmmm, I wonder why?

Anyway, take care. Back to work.

Oops! Sorry about that. Work is what people do to earn a living.

Anything that wench has is already public material. Besides, anything that comes from her mouth should be considered a lie by default.

For some reason the left wing freaks (like Pelosi) are running more scared of Newt than they are of Mitt. I don't know why, I think Mitt has a better chance of unseating dear leader.

The worst the scum gets that the right scrapes from the bottom of the barrel the more you like it. Just sounds like rationalization to me. "My scum is good scum because it is my scum!"

I have to totally laugh my head off at the attack on Pelosi, when she dared suggest that WE ALL MIGHT WANT TO REVISIT THE NEWT ETHICS HEARINGS OF 1997 that are PUBLIC RECORD.

And now GOP partisans fall all over themselves to blame only Pelosi now when it was 1997 GOP house controlled ethics committee finding that NEWT was a very bad boy.

But earth to GOP partisan trolls, Pelosi is not running for POTUS in 2012, but Newt is. GOP hatred of Pelosi will not elevate the repulsive record of Newt in any way.

As Pelosi has to stay in the good graces of her Congressional voters in only her district, while Newt has to convince the entire GOP that he is the best GOP POTUS Candidate in 2012 when the GOP itself rejected Newt's leadership in 1998.

Why should the GOP accept Newt's leadership now when its only starting to put Newt under its own GOP microscope.

Thx for pointing that out to me as I am looking at my gold watch for 30 years of service for my employer.

Nancy Pelosi cares about power, everything else comes second. She's a disaster politically for this country because of this quality.

Regardless it will be nice to hear what she has to say, to see how the media runs it, and most of all how Newt handles himself when his negative points are put in the spotlight. I expect he will do just fine for anyone who cares to listen to anything other than the onslaught that will be used to try and undermine him.

Important to remember that 83 of the 84 charges relating to what Nancy wants to bring back out and shine light on (and likely twist) were dropped. She's looking to draw Newt through the mud with what is going to liekly be a Gloria Allred type of hit job. Imply imply imply, hide the facts that undermine your position, imply imply imply and hang somebody in the court of public opinion when the implications would be shredded to nothing short of contemptuous bullshit in a court of law. This is enough to give some folks an orgasm given the effect results of such tactics in this country.

I'll be interested in what she has to say about Newt. I seem to recall him being an egotistical azz back then. I thought he may have matured since then based on his debate performances, but we'll see as the campaign continues.

But I suspect this may turn out to be nothing much, unless you're a rabid partisan. I say that because IIRC the whole ethics charge centered around Newt claiming the funding for some course he was teaching qualified as tax exempt etc. The ethics committee disagreed claiming it was illegal, sanctioned Newt and sent it's files on the matter over to the IRS. As it turns out the IRS approved the nonprofit status for Newt's course(s) which makes the whole thing look like the witchhunt many claimed.

If technical arguments over whether some college course is actually non-profit or not is the worst she has on Newt I think that will be the least of his problems.

Fern, Newt doesn't need any more bad news to make him look like a piece of shit. Pretty sure he does that almost every time he opens his mouth.

I agree.

but you need to continue the line of thinking. Right now Obama has done a lot of damage (the extent is not fully known yet). He made promises that he flat out lied on. They continue to push man of the things people vilified Bush on.

Neither party is good. Many of the 3rd party aren't either though.

You claim to be independent, but your post says otherwise. The DNC is flawed, but the GOP is an infestation...

So let's sum this up: You don't know "much" about one of the most important political figures in the last 30 years, including what his "baggage" entails.

Newt has been relevant in the past decade? Really? How so? In what capacity? What elected office has he held?

You haven't chosen a candidate for President, despite the fact that the existing candidates have all been in the mix for months.

Nope, I haven't decided which one sucks less, I just know which ones I won't vote for.

You won't say who you voted for in the past.

How is that relevant? I've voted for R's, D's and I's, but when it comes to presidents I've only voted R.

You can't identify a single reason that you dislike Nancy Pelosi

No, that's not what I said. That's your incorrect interpretation. There are a multitude of reasons why I dislike her, and I don't have the time or inclination to list them all out for you. Suffice it to say that she's a proven liar, hypocrite, elitist and leftist looney toon, that should be enough for anyone to dislike her.

Despite the fact that you make nothing but scathing criticisms of Democrats

The fact that the truth sounds to you like nothing but scathing criticisms doesn't mean it's not the truth.

you purport not to have a party affiliation.

FACT: I am not affiliated with any party and I have voted for candidates from either party in different elections (including independents). In other words, I don't have a party affiliation. I am a conservative, that doesn't mean I'm a R, though I most often agree with them.

Seriously, if you know and care this little about politics, why are you even here?

Again, that's your mistaken interpretation. Just because I think both sides suck (one side less than the other) doesn't mean I don't care about politics or am not interested in the subject.

You are unmistakeably a Republican

Funny how you pretend to know what I am better than I do. As I've stated before, I'm not affiliated with either party. Get that through your skull.

but you pretend to be independent

I don't pretend to be anything. I'm a conservative, sometimes that lines up with the goals of one party, sometimes it doesn't.

You sound like a typical liberal: you believe you know better than others how they think.... and like most liberals, you're wrong.

The smartest thing for democrats to do is keep their mouths shut over Gingrich. His nomination will insure Obama gets re-elected.

Democrats like Pelosi bashing Gingrich only solidifies his support within GOP though. 🙂 So the smartest thing for Democrats to do is to bash Gingrich 🙂
