Naming your boy and girl, Aaron and Erin, respectively

Depends on your accent and where you live.
For me, I would say those names sufficiently differently that I don't see a particular issue. The main problem would be having a kid named Erin. F that.

I've always judged match-y names.

in my friend's husband's family, everyone's name starts with a C- (Chris, Claire, Cliff, etc). they, of course, continue the tradition with their own kid... I was surprised he was even allowed to marry a Danielle, but I guess D is close enough to C for marriage.

If you are pronouncing them sufficiently different you are pronouncing them wrong. 😛

Certain sites will actually pronounce the words for you, which should show you they are fairly close.

I'd say it's a good idea. That way when a parent yells *Aaron/Erin, stop it!" both kids will think it's directed at them.

My neighbor is a twin...His name is Sean, his brother's name is Shawn.

"Sean's" name is pronounced "Seen." 🙄

Lol. Why is that?

It's like the Dr. Seuss story "Too Many Daves" in which a woman names all of her 27 kids Dave.

Instead of Aaron/Erin you might as well name them Biffalo Buff and Zanzibar BuckBuck McFate.

Sounds different to me. Those who can't tell might need hearing aids. :hmm:
I have co-workers with those names and they've always pronounced them as shown.

Aaron

Erin

there's a different emphasis when I say them, at least.

Aaron -- emphasis on the A, sounds like arrow
Erin -- emphasis on the R, sounds like errand

Aaron here. That makes me an expert, right? :awe:

Air-on vs err-in. They're close, but it's like how people say should of instead of should have (when you pronounce the names backwards). People just aren't that precise with pronunciation, but you know what they mean.
