That Distorted Penquins - Magic CD is awesome. I used to go see them play live all the time back in Morgantown.

My album pick would be Reel Big Fish - Turn the Radio Off

Crosby, Still & Nash - Deja Vu
Stephen Still - Manassas
William Orbit - Strange Cargo I and II
Beth Orton - any album
The Verve - Bitter Sweet Shymphony (don't remeber the name of the albums, even tho I have all of them, lazy to look now)
Santana - Abraxas

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

good choice, that was my first Miles Davis album
Sketches of Spain is another great Miles album. Sadly you guys will never get to see him in concert.

Brian Ferry - Boys & Girls is my choice for this thread though.

i would add:
"exile on main street" and "sticky fingers" by the rolling stones
"houses of the holy" by led zeppelin
"full moon fever" by tom petty and the heartbreakers
"carmina burana" by carl orff (not an "album" per se but still counts- more so, i would think)

...with mad props to those who already mentioned:
"californication" and "bloodsugarsexmagik" by RHCP
"ok computer" by radiohead
"aenima" by tool
"folsam prison blues" by johnny cash

Weezer - Blue Album
Jimmy Eat World - Clarity

weezer... that's about it.

by the way, listen to the older jimmy eat world. it beats the pants off of this new stuff. clarity wasn't that good.

you mean like Anderson Mesa? Or the splits with Jebidiah? Naw, those aren't close to what Clairty accomplished IMHO.

Single best is tough. I guess that would be The Bends by Radiohead. Not as good as OK Computer but it is a good compromise between the excessive pop sounds of Pablo Honey and the electronigasm that is OK Computer.

A few other suggestions of recent music:

Bruce Springsteen - The Rising. Great songs with great melodies that have the added depth of additional meaning if you dig below the surface.

Arcade Fire - Funeral. Takes a few listens before it sticks with you, and then you never look back. Opaque yet somehow brilliant lyrics and an explosive sound. Much better than their EP.

The Decemberists - Picaresque and Castaways and Cutouts. The former is my favorite, containing a blend of old timey style with incredible stories blended with plenty of rocky sounds. The latter is more mainstream rockish and contains more solid melodies, with great lyrics (but not quite as great as Picaresque)

dont know if they've been listed but:
Coldplay - X & Y (I know this one was already listed but...w/e)
Coldplay - A rush of Blood to the Head (their best imo)
The Killers - Hot Fuss Deluxe Edition (Hot Fuss is good but the bonus tracks on the DE are sweet)
Franz Ferdinand - (Any of their albums)
Gorillaz - Demon Days

and i used to really like Creed, all three albums, but not so much anymore.

Fall Out Boy - From under the cork tree
Taking Back Sunday - Where you want to be
The Academy is... - Almost Here
Hawthorne Heights - The Silence in Black and White
*Letter Kills - The Bridge*
The Offspring - Americana
*Weezer - Pinkerton*

*Best

Rumours, Fleetwood Mac
The Joshua Tree, U2
Hotel California, The Eagles
Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols, The Sex Pistols

GNR - Use Your Illusion I & II

Diana Krall-Live from Paris
I haven't heard of about 90% of the albums here and half the bands. What does that mean?

You're under 25 or more likely under 18 OR you're over 30 or more likely over 40? I really don't think there are that many people on here woh listen to both Fall Out Boy and early Rolling Stones, but I may be wrong.
