He developed a special community which provides a home for abused children.

He has raised money to create a home for foster children who "age out" of the system.

As an elected official, he has worked to pass legislation that increased aid for child abuse victims and improved monitoring of foster children.

As a trained Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), his wife works daily to help abused and neglected children affix hope to their lives.

He and his wife have served as foster parents for three teens and have started a founation to support foster parenting.

Following the awful death of a D.C. toddler at the hands of her mentally impaired mother, he used all of his considerable legislative skills to create a family court in the District of Columbia, so that children would not be pushed through the system like ciphers, but would be known to a judge who could follow their case over a period of years.

He's working on a bipartisan solution to reform the way gov't finances child welfare.

He hosted a screening of Antwone Fisher (a strory of a boy born in prison and abandoned by his mother to years of abuse, both emotional and sexual, in foster care) with Hillary Clinton for members of Congress.

Who do you think this politican is?

Must be how he eases his conscience for all the hurt and evil he does. How much of this is our federal dollars he routed back to his own district?

Yeah, sure was nice of Hillary to co-host the screening, eh? :D

CsG

It is, considering the vitriolic attitude towards the Clintons from the GOP.

I'm sure there are many people empathetic to the same causes you are outlining here.
Obviously you are appealing to people with those credentials...they must be popular and respected.
Therefore DeLay's REPLACEMENT hopefully will be just as active in these areas.

I expect DeLay to continue the fine work he has done as a congressman to improve the lives of children.

Bush = GOP? :confused:

If you think the GOP has been at all cordial to Clinton then you have your head far far up your behind.

Do you think he would have been impeached if he hadn't committed perjury and obstuction of justice?

I think they would have accused him of lying about what brand of toothpaste he used, and then impeached him for that.

As a foreigner, I thought the impeachment of Clinton was one of the biggest political farces I've ever seen.

The Republican party at the time was so blinded by hatred for a relatively successful president that they willingly made international asses out of themselves just to put a rather artificial black mark on Clinton's record.

Based on the available information, Bush Jr. is much more deserving of impeachment, though I don't think the burden of proof could be fully met to do it; the impeachment of Clinton was a joke, and it occured for one reason: the GOP had enough votes in all the places that mattered to make it happen.
