Name this oldies/rock and roll song

There is song that is played on the local oldies station as well as the local classic rock station. It is instrumental, and sounds like something Jimmy Buffet would play. It is mainly an electric guitar, but I also hear some "tropical" instruments. The entire song reminds me of the tropics; it just evoked images of palm trees. I wish I was musically inclined; I'd make some sort of wav file or something mimicking the main riff. But, can anyone give some suggestions as to hwta it might be based on this criteria? Oldies, with some "tropical" instruments, instrumental. thanx

You really expect people to be able to help you with that much information.

Hi, I need to get a new muffler. Well what type of car do you have.
Well, it has 4 wheels. And it makes a "Vrooom" sound.

its not the Ventures, but thanx, that is a good song and I never knew the name to that one either.

I might just have to pick up a mic and humm the tune for you guys 🙂

OK, now you guys can hear my off-key rendition of this song in all of its WAV-file glory right here

<----Listens... points and laughs.

Yeah...that's gotta be the theme song to Hawaii 5.0.....NOT!!!

Dude puhlease don't ever expose my poor ears to anything like that wav file again.

Your .wav was funny but it could be anything. It's not really oldies but it kind of sounded like Yellow Bird by Arthur Layman, I think. It's pretty old, and I doubt it's your tune, but it came to mind.

No one likes my singing abilities? 🙁 I'm gonna go crawl off in a corner and cry now....

(and my friends wonder why I never sing in the car.... 🙂)

I dont think it was Axel F... This song is quite long. My father, who was listening at the time, said it sounded like Eric Clapton.. I didnt think so, but the emphasis on the guitar was .... well, it made me wonder. Not many groups use the guitar as the only main instrument in an instrumental, especially back then.

nope 🙁 Tyhe guitar in Miserlou is too fast; this one used lots of long notes.. thank you for your help though, but I am beginning to think no one save me knows of this song.

Link Wray ?

For some reason, I'm thinking you're talking about surf rock...
That's why I guessed Ventures and Dick Dale...

Is what you're talking about sound anything similar to the links I've given?

Have you ever heard this song in a movie ?

Are you describing it accurately...can you guess what era it is from (50's,60's,70's) ?

My voice is done cracking 🙂 Its not my fault I have no concept of pitch or tone... 🙂

And no I've never heard this song in a movie... the next time the station plays it I'll just have to call them up.. thanx guys for the help. you can let this threa ddie now... if I ever figure out who it is I'll resurrect it.

Aha! The station just played the song again, so I raced home, called them, and asked for the title. The song is...... (ya'll ready for this?)

..........

Allman Brothers - Jessica

I shoulda known it was Allman Brothers; it definitely has their style. Now, if any of you out there know this song, dont you think my humming sounded exactly like it? 🙂
