Name the hardest console RPG boss you ever fight and reason.

I add Dark Force and Mother Brain from Phantasy Star to the list. If you play ps2, you would know why those 2 are a real ropyalk pain in the ass.

Every single boss in Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. The leveling scaling was retarded in that game. You had to hit every boss at a total sweet spot or the boss level scaling would just destroy you.

I don't recall every boss being super tough (though certainly challenging), but the final boss really pissed me off. It's a very long fight (at least 45 mins) and I repeated it several times over 2 to 3 dasy but always lost. Finally, after figuring out the best possible strategy, I gave it one last try and fought til every one of my characters was dead except Mia (the blue haired magician), she had no magic left, and would have died if hit again, I had no choice but to do a simple "attack" command and that was enough to finish him off. I was shocked and surprised, but still bitter enough to mouth off to hatemail@workingdesigns.com
You are not allowed to exit the final dungeon, so if you really are too weak to beat the final boss than you're SOL. That should not be tolerated in this day and age or the 8 years or so ago when it was released.

I got nailed by this in Blue Dragon. I kept forgetting to level grind, and when I hit Nene's place (as found in the demo!), I was just way too underpowered to beat those three damn machines, and there's also a TIME LIMIT counting down just to make it that much worse. I may try to grind a bit in there to see if I can squeeze by, but I may be forced to New Game+ and try the entire thing again.

On the plus side, I like the movement to New Game+ options.

In Golden Sun 1, theres this optional bossfight with this dead Pirate King (blackbeard i think), and that fight took me over an hour that guy had forver HP.

But yea Ruby and Emerald Weapon were also pretty hard.

Chrono Trigger - trying to beat Lavos at the first opportunity. There can't possibly be a harder boss than that. Your party is so puny and weak, there's no way you can win so early in the game on the first play through!

You can on new game + 😛

i beat emerald a couple times, never ruby though, never knew how to. i never beat the one boss in FFX, the boss of the boss's in the monster capture thing. every with everyones quick hit and doin 99999 i was unable to =\ never really kept trying though, hell of a fuckin thing even unlocking him. as you can imagine, Sin was a joke with how far i leveled my characters before i even attempted him.

The main trick with Nemesis was timing your summons properly so that they act as your shield against the huge attack he does which wipes your party.

Exactly. I've never been big into RPGs. FFX was the only one I've really played and beaten. I didn't get absolutely everything, but all my characters could hit 99,999, and I could beat Nemesis every time I played him. He was a bitch though; you'd burn through all your Aeons using them as shields, and he'd still have like half life. Stupid 10000000 hp bosses... But yeah, beating him was seriously most triumphant. That was almost as exciting as getting my Super license in Gran Turismo 3 (god that Cote d'Azure test was a fucking bastard).

I dont even have to think about that.
Final Fantasy 7.

Those freaking Weapons were INSANE!

Even with X-summon Knights of the Round, Mime on the other two characters, Final Attack-Phoenix and all the other super power stuff, those guys were damn near impossible.

By the time I worked up to one of each Master Materia and 3 each of HP plus, MP plus and all the other pluses, Cloud was at level 95 and my other characters were in the high 80's.
They could still get wiped out.

Sephiroth was a joke. One solid X-summon of Knights and he was gone.

And you know what the rewards were?
A gold chocobo, WHICH YOU ALREADY NEEDED IF YOU WANT KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND!
And one each of the Master Materias, WHICH YOU NEEDED JUST TO BEAT THE BASTARDS!

Totally useless, they were just for bragging rights.

EDIT:
In American Final Fantasy 2 I recall the first time I fought Leviathan and Bahamut I got stomped. But they were relatively easy compared to FF7. All you had to do was level up a bit and go get 'em.
In FF7 you had to have a special combination of Materia to ensure maximum damage each round.
American FF3 had the Dragons in the world of Ruin. The final two (gold and white, I think) found in Kefkas tower were REALLY tough. But by that time you should have figured out a little trick. Have one person with either Quake or Merton (or both) and give them the Gem Box (for dual spells) and the Econimizer or Gold Hairpin (to conserve MP). Give everybody an armor piece that absorbes Fire or Earth (or both) and let them go crazy.
Just keep casting quake and merton. Even if you dont damage the dragons very much, you will heal a heck of a lot more than Cure 3 ever could. That trick worked on pretty much all bosses, including the final Kefka fight.

Wait, I just realized you needed the Crusader Esper to get Merton, and you only got Crusader after beating ALL the dragons. OK, I guess it was just Quake that I used against them, and then quake & merton on Kefka.

Brock and onyx from the original pokemon! It's tough if you start with charmander (or pikachu).
Also, grandia 2. Just grandia 2.

The hardest part for me was beating those dolls when you first go to the underworld. I have no idea why, but I just never seemed to be at the right level for them, and then once you're done, you get shoved into a second tough boss battle. You get Rydia for the second half, true, but she's weak enough that she's not THAT helpful.

All of FF6 was pretty easy for me. There were some abusive tricks you could use, too, although I generally stayed away from them. And Sephiroth in FF7 was the easiest boss ever, period.

*stuff*

Sounds like you were missing one crucial part to that equation. That is, megaelixir. I did everything you said there but I also had one of my 3 characters on the team use a megaelixir every single turn just to make sure my HP was in top shape. It worked like a champ.

The big ghost dragon from FF Crystal Chronicles. We were playing 4-player co-op and none of us have ever played it before. We were all intensely staring at the screen for about 15 minutes, as two of us casted holy (one casts fire, one casts life at same time/location) on him, two had to fight of skeletons, and we had to move that damn bucket. Everyone probably died at least 4 times that fight but we had 2 Life spells and managed to have someone alive with it.

I'm sure there were harder bosses that just insta killed me because I wasn't the right level in games, but this was the most stressful (and fun) boss fight I've ever done. Too bad the game was worthless after the 4 of us beat it.

Yep, the 4 of us had fun with it, and then I traded it in.

a few of the FF7 fights, and the final boss in FF8 was a joke. Beat it with like level 60 dudes.
FF9 was a bit tricky though--actually needed a strategy guide lookup for that one.
