Holy crap, $1500 a month in food and entertainment?

I live in NJ and i have a family of 5. do you think i could get by on less?? probably, but i'd never be able to take my family OUT to eat. we went to Friendly's tonite and the bill was $38.00 plus $6.00 for tip. $44.00 just for dinner.

Let?s see. . .

Yearly:

Car and Driver, about $15 (?)
Consumer Reports, about $20

Every 6 months:

Dial-up ISP, $71.70
Renters and Auto Insurance, $500-600

Monthly:

Rent: $585, including ?liability? for 2 cats, and the one parking space behind my building
Telephone: $23-24
Cell phone: $49, including an equipment protection plan
Electricity: $25-30
EDIT: I forgot my credit card, $0-700 a month (I usually run a balance, but I pay what I can, when I can)

Canceled:

Cable TV, $43 (I remember that my dad used to pay about $15 a month. What gives these days? Consolidation is bad, M?kay?)
Cable Modem, $44.95 (a luxury, IMO, I?ll probably sign up again sometime, but for now, I?d rather just have my money)
Tivo, $13-14 (?) (What?s the point, without cable TV?)

Notice that I have no car payment. I am not what I drive, so I don?t care what someone else thinks of my long-paid for ?92 Civic. It does the simple job of getting me around town, and beyond, should the mood strike.

No matter how much money you make a month, it always seems you find someway to just be able to save just under 25 dollars a month.
