Name that tune (country song)

I don't know the exact lyrics, but I heard the song when I was over at my girlfriend's place the other night. The song is like a ballad (sang by a guy) about being in a prison work gang. He talks about becoming friends with the warden and the warden has him take care of Old Red, the dog. The chorus is about how someone needs to try to escape so Old Red can get his exercise.
