Colonization of the moon. Preferably as a giant prison - even better than Australia!

Have you never read 'The Moon is a harsh Mistress'

It would seem to me that is the last place we want to put a bunch of criminals.

My vote:
Robotic butler.

I was promised a robotic butler damnit!

Also, by the time that happens we'll probably have nuclear-powered flying cars for nakedfrog. He can finally replace his VW Bus.
Can't I just retro-fit it? 🙁

If Christopher Lloyd could retro-fit an 1800's-era locomotive with time-travel, then I'm sure the Dubus could be flying car retro-fit.

I am also disappointed no one here has mentioned sharks with FRICKIN' LASERBEAMS on their foreheads.

didn't read the thread, but it can be safely assumed that this is the true answer that all of ATOT was too ashamed to put:

A vagina other than their mom's.

Discovery of life on other planets. By life I mean any type of life be it bacterial life on Mars or solid evidence of a thriving ecosystem on a distant planet.

Bacterial life on Mars is still definitely not out of the question, especially with the relatively recent discovery of methane in the atmosphere. Discovering life on another earth life planet orbiting another star is I believe only a matter of time. Recently they made the first spectroscopic analysis of the atmosphere of an extrasolar planet. Combine that with probes to be launched soon that should be able to find earth sized planets around nearby stars. It will take some time but the technology to find evidence of life on these planets is already here, it's just a mater of time and money. Whether it will happen in my lifetime or not is another mater, I hope so!

It's called the James Webb Space Telescope:

Should be launched in 2013.

wonder why it;s names james webb (2nd administrator of nasa) instead of Keith Glennan (1st administrator of NASA)?

And for me personally...a 3some 😛.

Let's start with something simple: A cure for cancer. All variants.

That's pretty ridiculous, seeing as how cancer has many, many different forms. Even cancers of the same organ can have different mechanisms of action and thus require different treatments.

Cancer is a catchall for very specific, uncontrolled, and generally localized cell proliferation.

Plausible:
Nuclear Fusion (Cold)
"The Fountain of Youth"

Possible:
Faster than light travel/"Warp" drive
Inertial dampening/artificial gravity tech

Yes, I'm serious.

Cold Fusion - Possible
Hot Fusion - Plausible
Fountain of youth - Plausible (in the sense of anti aging medicine)
FTL - Impossible (in your lifetime, maybe possible but not really plausible in the long term)
Artificial Gravity - I will reserve judgement.
