Memento - I liked this movie the first time I saw it, but I think I will need to watch it a second (or possibly a third) time to really figure out what happened.

Basic - This movie is overloaded with plot twists to the point of absurdity

The Usual Suspects - I got the big twist at the end, but didn't catch all of the details of the story

The Fountain/2001 - I had no idea what was going on in either of these movies until I later read about the symbolism present in them

Primer - I have seen this movie twice and still have no idea wtf is going on once they get the time machine working

I still know people who have watched it multiple times and never figured out what the heck the plot was, or what the wall actually was.

You probably need to smoke more pot to understand it.

Basic and Primer are both good examples of movies that it's not even worth putting effort into to understand. Basic was a complete clusterfuck at the end and I only made it halfway through Primer when I stopped caring.

I understood Prestige after first viewing. Memento required a second viewing however. Both movies are excellent. Looking forward to more of Chris Nolan's work.

I think you are rewatching it for the lesbian scene.

I watched both of these in the same night, on an all-nighter Red Bull-fueled rush. My head was spinning by the end of it all.

After seeing it for the first time, I realized the director was simply too ambitious and didn't tie up a lot of the loose ends. A major WTF movie when I was younger was The English Patient.

I also didn't really understand The Departed until the second time because Matt Damon and Dicaprio look alike.

Same here! That annoyed me so much, Mark Wahlberg didn't help either.

What WAS the plot of that movie, anyway? To me, it just seemed like a lot of pointless killing by a psycho with a really screwed up system of professional ethics.

You're kidding, right? Wasn't that hard since it was explained completely at the end of the movie.

The part with the Bolivian Army threw me off. ;)

Actually, not unlike The Usual Suspects, there are so many things that you do not catch (or understand) until you watch it for the second (or third) time.

The Sting as in Paul Newman and Robert Redford? That seemed pretty straightforward to me.

Maybe I am the only one then.

Move along - nothing to see here.

Jacob's Ladder. A serious WTF on that movie.

Jacob's Ladder was a great movie. Unfortunately I had previously read "An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge", a short story that was the inspiration for this movie. When I read that the story was the inspiration for the movie, I had the movie figured out from the beginning, which detracted from the experience somewhat. I think it would have taken me a lot longer to figure everything out if I didn't know the theme of the movie ahead of time.

Nevertheless, there are still a few loose ends in the movie that I believe are open to the viewer's interpretation, and it's a great psychological thriller. Definitely see this one if you enjoy that genre.

Another similar movie was The Jacket, although it wasn't too difficult to figure out the first time.

Mulholland Drive
Saw parts of it 2 or 3 times before giving up and going online for a summary.
