Your list is missing Santana for some inexplicable reason. And while on the subject of Latin music, Eomir Deodato kicks all kinds of ass.

You gotta love their name:D

Their music is okay, but way too relaxed...

..and their version of "cielito lindo" is diabolically sad.....

my drummer and i roadied for an opening band when Cafe Tacuba played the Fillmore. They put on a great set, although it was weird to watch it from the side of the stage instead of in the crowd! definetely cool to hang backstage at the fillmore, though.

my drummer and i also drove Maldita Vecindad's courtesey vans when they played in San Jose, CA at a big latin rock show. we got the vans from the airport in the morning and picked the band up at the hotel, took them to San Francisco to see Fisherman's Warf and Pier 39, then up to Haight Ashbury to sample the local "color." then we hauled ass back down to the hotel so they could prepare, then off to the venue, past the police blockades, and up to the back entrance. i watched that show behind the stage, looking up at the drummer (damn he was good). i got paid pretty well, too. it was difficult because i speak next to no spanish, so we had to go back and forth between their manager to get much communicated. it was a looooong day. we didn't drop off the vans until about 2 AM, didn't get home until 3 or 4 AM.

i share a rehearsal space with these guys: Orixa

they've been around for at least 10 years. i've helped them out with a lot of shows and stuff, and they were the opening band for those shows i mentioned i worked at. their recordings don't do them justice, though. they're great live.

"La oreja de van gogh" is pretty good. It's more pop than rock, but I like their sound.
