Strangely for me, both my choices are from Star Wars.

My favorite fantasy pet would be the Ewoks from the forest moon pf Endor (Return of the Jedi)

My choice of fantasy hunting prey would be the Rancour (Return of the Jedi again, the monster under Jabba the Hutt's den)

Ewoks are sentient. Not that it matters because I'd rather hunt Ewoks and keep a pet rancor. Poor poor misunderstood rancor--it's really sweet under all the teeth and claws and rabid rapaciousness.

I don't think I could choose between having an Ewok or a Mogwai . They're both so cute! But I think an Ewok would be less trouble to take care of and depending on the Mogwai, they're not necessarily well-tempered like Gizmo.
