Name a video game that you could not beat

Man, I was a pro at the first part of the game. I could get thru the dam and the water without losing a turtle. MOST of the time I could get thru the city without losing a turt (but then again if I did I could retrieve him). I could even get thru the airport with most of my turts. But that damn subterranean level.... For the life of me I could not get past that technodrome part. Now I want to fire it up again...
The key is to know where the pizza is. Other than the underwater level, and maybe the last one, I don't think that you are ever severely constrained for time. So when you get to a level, where there is a pizza right near the entrance (from the overworld map screen), grab the pizza, leave, come back, repeat. (With all of the characters.) If you "tank up" at strategic times/places throughout the game, you won't have as many issues as just trying to run through it. Also, you can't collect more than 99 boomerangs, but you can trade them to other characters and go above that amount. But have a few characters with those wave-beam scrolls too, those go through almost everything, and best yet, they destroy bullets too! Very useful in the Technodrome, when you have turrets on the walls firing at you. I also tend to favor using Leonardo (or is that Donatello - the one with the Bo Staff), he has the strongest weapon with the greatest reach, and you can kill enemies on platforms above and below you with ease. Also, if you duck, and attack downward, you can kill enemies flying just over your head too.

battletoads for nes.
even with emulation/game genie i still can't beat it. :/
Word. I remember my brother and I trying to beat that damn thing. We spent hours trying to figure out how to get pass that stage where you are on the vehicle trying to jump and dodge the upcoming lane blocks. They get faster and faster until it's near impossible...
The scary thing is - and trust me on this one - that's one of the easy levels. Yeah.

A lot of games damn it. Especially first person FPS's. I just can never seem to just go through with it. Doom 3..never beat. Bough it day it came out. Same with HL2 though I'm working on it, still since the day it came out. Various other games as well. Just so damn lazy.

Most recent game I'm having trouble with is Gradius V. This game is hard (but not as hard as Ikaruga). Some of the levels you need some skills to pilot through asteroid fields while being shot at while fighting the boss.

Project X for the Amiga. If you'd die once you'd lose 3 weapon powerups, and at the end of level 2 you couldn't kill critters anymore (and therefor couldn't get a powerup back anymore) if you did not have max weaponpower. If you accidently picked up a different weapontype you'd have the level 1 equivalent of that weapon, and would not be able to do anything anymore. The level 2 endboss was extremely nasty and whenever I got to that point without dying I'd die to him.
You needed weapons with a large spread for most groups of attackers, as it was impossible to kill the ones coming from the sides if you had just a heavy forward beam weapon, but you needed just such a weapon for the endboss. There was a bug which allowed you to skip about 50% of level 2 without fighting, as you started off the level invincible for a few seconds, and in that time could fly through the rock at the bottom and continue forward in a small space there, but some programmer was nasty enough to put a rock there halfway the level.

Other than that... I think I finished most games I didn't get bored with, except maybe the first Discworld game got stuck on that one, and gave up after a while in favor of Angband.

Back to the future III on the master system, one of the train cars would not let me go past so time ran out and I die.

Shinobi (spelling) for the master system, where there was a stack of bosses ontop of each each heading your way, my little hands at the time could not destory each boss quick enough so they all trampled me.

Grand Turismo 3 (67.5% complete) got bored when I got the F1 car and the endurance races are borring as sh*t.

Star Trek TNG for the snes, couldnt get past a 3rd attack by a romulan bird of pray after warping to another system.

Z the original

I'm playing one right now with my GF that seems IMPOSSIBLE to get through...
TimeSplitters 2 for the XBOX..

We're stuck on the Atom Smasher level, and have been for about 2 weeks....

The Terminator shooting game for SNES and the Terminator game for NES.

I could not even get past the first level of the shooting game.

The NES Terminator game is stupid hard. 3 lives no continues it was just not going to happen.

TMNT1 for nes...as the case with a lot of others here.
Recently, Metal Slug 3 for xbox- looks simple enough like contra but impossible game.

I REALLy suck at video games, so the only ones I've been able to beat were ones that had cheats, besides Halo, which I beat without any cheats. The fact that I don't have the patience to master a particular game is another factor

stuck an far cry on whatever the middle setting is (not novice or teh next one) where u have 2 clear that room with the pillars/loads of dudes with riot shields/wankr with a rocket launcher 😛

Managed it while blind drunk with a m8 on the second easiest setting (no idea how tho 🙁 ) but stuck as all hell now 🙁

Ikaruga.

But there was also Test Drive for the PS2, but only because it sucked so badly that I couldn't stand playing it for more than 5 minutes. Pong was it's only redeeming feature.

i could never beat Mike Tyson when i was younger, but i fired the game up about a year ago and went through the entire game (start to finish) and beat every character on the first try. except for tyson that is. he took me about 4 or 5 tries. that one hit knock out sucked.

the games ive had the most trouble with have all been old games.

Battle Toads
Double Dragon 2 or 3, i dont remember which one.
Bionic Comando
Ninja Turtles
Ikari Warriors, even with the unlimited men code i there was a glitch in the game that would get you stuck somewhere when playing with 2 people
A Boy and his Blob

new games are alot easier though, i can beat any game if i play it long enough. and i dont have quite as much free time as i did back in the day.

Metal Gear on NES. I don't even think I could beat the first level.

I also could not beat Russian Attack on NES. those 2 games were impossible. I can't think of any others right now ...

Notice how most of the games listed are older games (mostly NES). Were the games harder back then or what?

I ran out of quarters 😀

most of us were much younger?
then again, can young kids beat today's video games, like splinter cell or something?

also, you couldn't save back then in NES days. notice how the majority of the games listed as ones that people couldn't beat did not have a password system either (aside from mike tysons punchout).
