The Deer Hunter. Most people say its a Vietnam movie. It isn't. Its a male-bonding relationship based through the struggles of Vietnam. Long movie but VERY VERY good.

Great cast too: Robert DeNiro, Christopher Walken, Meryl Streep, John Cazale (Fredo in the Godfather)...
