Took a trip to Japan this January. I really dislike almost all seafood and it makes me sick just thinking about eating it. But combine that with raw fish and I really wasn't looking forward to the trip. Things were pretty disgusting all around. I wasn't even allowed to order what I wanted (business trip and the Japan company refused to order what I wanted since they didn't want to eat it themselves and they had a strange policy that everyone at the table must eat the same food).

A few dishes I could tollerate. But one item was the closest of anything I've had in my entire life to making me vomit at the table. I *looked* like a little radish carved into a flower, something innocent in a plate of god-awful raw fish. I gladly swiped it to minimize the amount of raw fish I'd have to eat. Boy was I wrong. The retchid mass was actually raw squid hood rolled into a flower shape. The slimiest piece of rotten fishy matter that I've ever seen. It took at least 5 minutes to chew through the rubbery (almost leather-like) slab. I nearly puked multiple times as the slippery blob slid between my teeth.

bahahahaha...good story, Dullard. 😀

A sausage of some sort :disgust:

I really needed the extra credit though

Considering your line of work, you are talking about a food, right? 😕

i just made myself some macaroni salad, I was going to put a little paprika, but the cap fell off and there was a mountain of the stuff in my salad, was pretty gross, but I ate it anyways cuz I was hungry

i spent some time in the philippines and had a lot of really nasty food while i was there. most of their food is pretty good, but among the nastiest are:

pigs blood. it was absolutely disgusting. very black, and had kinda the same texture as thick cream gravy thats been sitting out for a while. *shudder*

dog. it was actually kinda good, it tasted like goat meat.

balut. its a 21 day old fertilized duck egg. if you open it up, you can see the ducks head, eyes, wings, feet. they ate this on fear factor once. it was really nasty.

ginamos. basically you take some shrimp and put them in a blender whole. yuck.

the roadside 'bbq' venders sell chicken head, intestines, and feet (called adidas) all on sticks. none of those were all that bad.

thats all i can think of right now.

I had a bite of a durian for my Southeast Asia class. Has the texture of raw chicken and the flavor of stewed onions.

yeah i wasn't fond of durian either. langka is also a lot like durian, only sweeter, stickier, and smells like dirty feet.

no offence to anyone here....it was a certain indian soup....i don't know what kind; it didn't look too good, but it was a friend of mine's "Nritya Nipuna" (spelling?), and i had to eat it to be curteous.....i really didn't like it 🙁
never heard of it

i have an unnatural aversion to cilantro, so if theres a dish w/ cilantro in it, i wont eat it unless i absolutely had to take a few bites out of courtesy.

I too detest cilantro. Took about 5-6 visits to Indian restaurants to figure out why I liked so many of their dishes but that 10% of my bites were awful. Cilantro was the innocent looking culprit.

whats cilantro?

Pig's feet.

ever had pig's intestines? rectum? cow's tail? chicken's feet?

Worst thing I've ever had was a whopper from BK. Nasty lettuce, nasty tomato, nasty mayo, oddly shaped burger pattie and sesame seeds which looked like bun-herpes. :disgust:

*vomit*

Haha.. nice story, I almost vomitted just by reading your story. I also dislike sea food especially a raw one.

I had the displeasure to try Vegemite and Natto (Japanese stinky bean), those things are nasty.

Went to Chinese supermarket last week and saw a bucket full of live frogs at the meat & seafood section :Q

I once had a can of mountain dew with a package of coffee grounds, 4 pixie sticks, urine, and skittles. Pretty nasty, and I didnt even make any money!

Cilantro

i use it when i cook mexican style food; i like it, but its strong so i only use a little for a dish and chop it up.

oh, and i dont eat something that looks/smells gross. i generally eat pretty plain foods and wouldnt even try most of the stuff some of you have mentioned. grossest thing for me was either baked beans (which i abhor) or my mohter porkchops; she buys the thin cut ones and cooks them a good 10 minutes per side...so what you get can be best described as pork-chop chewing gum...bah

I've had durian, but it's far from the worst thing I've had. Not even top 20.

Some of the worst stuff I've had would be: a soup that a friend made... had some kind of ultra bitter cilantro-ish seeds in it, was crunching into them every third bite. absolutely the WORST thing I've ever had.

I'm not fond of korean red bean rice cakes, despise mushrooms unless they're fixed just right (fried portabellas, shitakes, *FRESH* button or meadow 'shrooms in stir fry), and can't stand eggplant, especially when cooked. Most of this stuff I can eat fine, even if I hate it, but mushrooms are the main food that I frequently can't stomach (as in, will literally lose my meal if I eat much of it), and eggplant sometimes hits me the same way.
