Name a good brand of tequilla

You'll see a lot of Patron and Cabo Wabo responses in this thread. 99% of those will come from 12-15 year olds who have never tasted tequila and would barf if they did. Simple fact: any "what liquor..." thread on ATOT will be dominated by whatever brand advertises most in Maxim, Stuff and FHM because all the kiddies get those magazines for free. If you're mixing, try Sauza blanco. It's a decent price and way better than crap like Cuervo.

Actually, I am 22 and Patrón Silver is delicious esp. when served in a frosted tumbler.
 
I'm thinking of buying Patron silver since it's the cheapest.

what's the diff (besides cost) between:

Gran Patron Platinum Tequila 750ml 80proof $207.15
Patron Anejo 750ml 80 $58.95
Patron Reposado 750ml 80 $53.95
Patron Silver 750ml 80 $49.95

For mixing I like Montezuma & Margueritaville, since they're ultra-cheap and relatively clean (I can down a ton of either and feel fine the next day - unlike Juarez).

For drinking straight, the only quality brand I've tried is 1800. I like it quite a bit, but would like to try other stuff... if only I could stop once I've had a bit, this wouldn't be such an expensive habit 😛

Silver is aged the least (gives clear color).
As price goes up, aging goes up (or vice-versa).

there is also a coffee flavored patron, i have not tried it though.
 

Cuervo Gold is fine for a mixer i think...and anything above is ment for sipping, not shooting or mixing really...Cabo wabo is a good tequila as a mixer i think too
 
I always liked 1800 for a good all-around tequila (flexible--good for shots and good for mixing.)

And tequila should NEVAR be chilled...that's what the frozen margerita mix machine is for! Tequila should always be kept at room temperature, but stored away from sunlight in a cool, dry place.
 
There are three kinds of tequilas:

Silver -- for mixing
Gold -- for shots or sipping on the rocks
Agave -- for sipping at room temp in a brandy snifter

If you are mixing, don't wast money on expensive tequila.

Just the agave is drank warm in a snifter, you warm the snifter with your hands and it causes an aroma to come off it. It's really a snob thing.

Myself, I like shots of gold, preferably licked out of female belly buttons.
