I'm not much of a gamer as I spend most of my time trying to keep my sanity and working but there are two games that I bought oh so long ago that I play, time-and-time again. If I play a game it is usually:

1) Empire Earth 9and it's expansion packs)

2) Homeworld (and it's expansion packs)

What about you and why do you get drawn back?

Red Alert 2. I've played through both campaigns every year for the last eight years.

Star Control II. Speaking of which, I haven't redownloaded the Ur-Quan Masters since I moved to Win7.

Silent Hunter 4 (same as the original) - simple to start, very complex to master. hours of fun.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War

Plus all three expansions, I play the original for the campaign from time to time, same with Winter Assault and Dark Crusade, but I play at least one skirmish in Soulstorm every day, even if it's just for ten or twenty minutes, I always end up launching it and have some A.I stomping fun, often on custom maps.

There's also Fallout 3, mostly due to the modification I made for it, which I keep on testing and trying differing ideas about, regularly so. And finally I would say both Team Fortress 2 (at least a CTF or KOTH match once per day) and a skirmish in Forces of Corruption (expansion to Empire at War) with a good modification I found.

That's about it for me lately (I.E since the past year or so, not much diversity).

UT2k4.

I never tire of it.

I actually wish i played it more now, but lack of good populated servers makes that hard.

I've started twice as many BG2 games as I've finished, because I cant stay away, even though I dont always want to run it to completion.
Same with NWN 2. I dont like the game that much, but starting a new PC is fun and exciting. Assloads of feats and spells and skills.

Since 2005 (I think) I cant stay away from Age of Mythology. Its not even my favorite RTS but I keep starting it up. Probably because the myth units are so cool. Not enough games these days have kickass special units. Dawn of War does, but with the latest patches you can only have one of each type in play at a time. Supreme Commander has their tier 4 units, but in an average game you wont make many of them, if any.

I go back to both KOTOR's and Deus Ex once a year, on average. Something about a decent story that sets them apart from the hundreds of other shitty games out these days.

Keep going back to Titan Quest once in a while, even though its a pointless grind. I have 4 characters now, all in the mid 70's.

Just realized I hadn't played Thief - Deadly Shadows.

But the game I keep going back to is the Descent Series. :)

Jagged Alliance 2 v1.13 mod. Its the oldest PC game I have installed on my PCs. I play it at least once a week. I just love the simplicity of it and its fun game play.

Diablo 2? Dota/HoN?

That's about it... but I stopped playing Diablo 2 a while ago and I think I might be done for good... At least, I hope I am. :) I'll play HoN for now.

Battlefield 2. As much as it crashes, as bad as the infantry combat sucks, and as bad as the server browser is, it just never seems to get old. Especially with Forgotten Hope.

Navy Field as well. It's just so addicting, so easy to get into, and it will run on any machine.

Have you played the Urban Chaos total conversion? The new weapon set, maps and story are a lot of fun.

Nothing at the moment. For a long time it was Day of Defeat Source, but I stopped playing about a year ago. I've gone through stints of obsessiveness with sames before and since then, but nothing now.

Yea... Battlefield 2 does so much wrong, but at the same time it's so damn addicting.

For years I kept loading up Galactic Civilizations and playing it quite a bit. I havent' played it since GC2 was released though.

Another game I always seem to load when I reformat my computer is Heroes of Might and Magic III, although lately my CD doesn't seem to work anymore.

Edit: I forgot, I have played through about 20 campaigns (the three main, and many user made ones) on NWN. That is another game that always made its way back on my computer after each format (although, again, not after I bought NWN2).

Another vote for Battlefield 2 here (surprise, surprise). I keep actively trying to find something to replace it, but haven't found it yet. Tried FrontLines Fuel of War, COD 4, Far Cry 2, even BF 1942/Desert Combat and BF 2142, but coudn't keep it up much more than a month before going back to BF2.
