I don't go to LAN parties & can't play over the internet.

D3 seems to be a game that is either hated or loved. i hated the banal and boring gameplay . . . the endless 'boo' repeated over-and-over . . .

anyway, D/L the D3 demo - if you like it, buy it . . . it is 10-15 more hours of "the same".

The No One Lives Forever Series (NOLF), are great single player games.

Deus Ex is only single player, so is System Shock 2 - FarCry does allow multiplayer, but I've never player that portion of the game - straight up singleplayer for me (it is a really really good single player campaign, but be prepared to be frustrated).

The CoD Series and FEAR also has a very good single player campaign as well.
