Im stuck at home for spring break and want to kill time with some fun games. any ideas which to buy? Im thinking about Modern Warfare 2, but for some reason the room all my stuff is in gets shitty internet reception, so im not sure if it'd work so great. also, it seems like the price of MW2 has actually gone up, which is odd.

thanks people.

P.S. I do like RPGs, love them actually, but everything ive seen on the PS3 seems awful, including FF XIII. whats happened to cool RPGs?

Edit: I have played or own: Infamous, MGS4, GTA IV, Uncharted 1/2, Killzone, Oblivion (PC), GoW I/II (PS2).

Demon's Souls and Valkyria Chronicles are the only good PS3 RPGs.

They are also, by far, the best RPGs I've played this generation.

The God of War collection can probably be found pretty cheap, and it has a decent length. However, it isn't really a PS3 game, and definately not an RPG.

Ratchet and Clank as well as Uncharted are pretty cheap. They are both good games, but I don't know if they live up to your length standards.

Yep they are the best so far even though I haven't even finished either yet. I usually take long breaks when I play through RPGs.

I have high hopes for the new tri-ace game. I forgot the name but I've heard from multiple people that it's bettern than FFXIII which may or may not be saying much...idk.

If it sucks on one platform, it's no different on the other. :sneaky:
On the the PC you can run at higher than 720p, and install mods to fix things like the lousy power armor.

Valkyria Chronicles can be found for around $20 if you look.

Dark Sector is a dumb fun shooter that's around $10 if you look (check newegg & amazon)

Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction

Disgaea 3!!!! Disgaea 3!!!

Was Disgaea 3 really any good? I got panned pretty universally by reviewers.

Then again, for games like that, I usually don't agree with reviewers. Case in point: Ar Tonelico series (my guilty gaming pleasure).

Well I've always liked Disgaea and 3 is fine but it's basically the same as the rest with a less funny story but I always like the gameplay.

Orange box.

Genesis ultimate collection. There's like 30 old Genesis games including half a dozen RPG's that give you days upon days of playing time.

Disgaea 3 always made me want to hurt myself after 30 minutes. Great premise surrounded by lackluster graphics supplied by a PS2 era game engine. The idea of Disgaea 3 is sexier than the game itself. My .02 :p

I thought it was the best game in the series, with a few caveats. But, I don't think you'll find anything that beats it for length, in any case.

You sound like a fan of the series, so I'll take what you say into consideration. Since I've only really played part 3 for any real length of time (I played the PS2 game only briefly), I can't really say which is the best. However, I do love the premise and I thought the story was great if cutesy. Overall my only real beef with it is overall execution. Hopefully they will come out with a sequel that smoothes most of those rough edges out.

well if FFXIII isnt your cup of tea I'm not to sure any current RPG (true RPG) would be. Not a FF fan boy, but the current one isnt to bad.

Demons soul- agreed, honestly right now, best game i have plaid (period) on a console in several years. But hate to say it, this is a love or hate game (good idea to rent before actual purchase).

Valkyria Chronicles- best RPG i have played in ages on console, good system, good challange, just plain fun.

Disgaea 3- OLD SCHOOL rpg, flash back to the Nes and early ps1 and ps2 days. No argument graphics look like they came from a NES, but as far as strategy RPG games goes, its pretty good. Suggest being a fan of that type of RPG.

Fallout 3- One of the best PC games in ages, never played on console, after playing PC version, wouldnt play on console even if owned it. Litttel more action/fps style of gameplay. For those that think it sucks, you may think that, but almost all reviews, Meta critic and gamers disagree. gotta love the "it sucks" remarks with no reasoning.

Fokelore- differnt breed of RPG, but I liked it also.

OP, why do you think FFXIII looks no good? any reasons? just picked it up myslef (not a fan of last few FF games (so much i never played any of them through after playing all others (some more then once)) so was big gamble by me. So far its good, far to easy but good.

Demons Souls and Valkyria Chronicles are the single two games i have played the most on my PS3 hands down.

I'm playing Valkyria Chronicles now. I'm loving it as I'm almost done with the game. I do wish I had the Japanese version though haha.

I liked Dark Kingdoms, but I'm probably in the minority. Regardless, I would think it's pretty cheap to pick up if you can find it.

hmm i sorta missed the cheap part, i would say at $20 Valkyria Chronicles is an easy pick. I also liked Dark Kingdom, but I'm sure many wouldnt.
