Beware of used N64 controllers, the analog sticks wear out eventually and no longer stay centered properly.

If I'm able to find some at a garage sale or something, will it be easy to tell if the analog stick is in good shape just from the action on it?

I bought a pair of 1st party N64 controllers at EBGames awhile back, I think I paid about 8 dollars each. You can exchange them if they don't work properly.

I looked at the condition of the to make sure they weren't mistreated or worn out. Mess around with all of the buttons and see if they spring back easily and don't stick. Feel the analog stick to see if it's not too loose and returns to center or close to center.

EBGames is the spot I checked and they said they didn't carry any N64 stuff anymore :(

I looked at their online site and didn't see anything either

It will be obvious if the analog stick is no good. It will wobble limply.

Ok, I'll make sure the shaft is nice and stiff rather than limp. :shiftyeyes;
