N64 Controller Question...

Useless question but the N64 has both a direction pad and joystick. I doubt there has ever been a game that uses both simultaneously...can anyone confirm?

You could switch between the two in some games depending one which you preferred. Don't think any game ever required you to use both in actual gameplay.

When they designed the N64 controller, they weren't sure if people would like the joystick, so they also included a d-pad. They were never intended to be used at the same time.

I've played games (Turok 2) that used the D-pad as an extra set of buttons, but it was meant as supplement to the right position (A, B and C buttons), not a replacement.

I guess you might be asking about the positions Nintendo advertised - Left, Right and Home. Left using the D-pad and Joystick, Home using the D-Pad and ABC buttons, and Right being easily the most commonly used.
