n00b question alert!!!

I searched the forum but could not find what I was looking for.

I was thinking of upgrading, but know I could overclock with my components.

Was wondering if I could get a guide to overclocking from somewhere - what would you guys suggest for a complete n00b trying to OC an Athlon 2400+ on a kt333 mobo?

Thanks!

Is your Athlon a Tbred-b or Barton, or Barton Mobile? If you can adjust the Multiplier, than thats a good step. If the default FSB for your processor is 266 and you have an adjustable multiplier, try lowering the multiplier to like 10 and raise your FSB to 166mhz (or 333 for DDR speed). If your processor is already at "333" or 166mhz, then try to adjust your multiplier upwards. If you get unstable, increase your core voltage by .05 but i do not recommend exceeding 1.75 V

BTW, welcome to the forums!

System specs would help us help you. Also, some programs you want are Prime95 and Memtest86 to test stability and Motherboard Monitor (MBM). See the sticky thread at the top of this forum. Peace.
