n00b Kazaa Questions...

K guys well ive found a user on Kazaa with a really really big, badass selection of items that I Like...I dont wanna leach all these things at once, so is there any way to add him to favorites like good old Napster let us do? That was awesome. Anyways, is there a way to maybe set them in que so it only downloads one thing at a time from him?

I use KaAzA Lite so I don't believe I have that option but, when I used Morpheus when they were still on the FasTrack network, users set in the hotlist were always deleted when they logged off. Seemed strange to me...don't know if they fixed that yet and since I've never used KaZaA full I don't know but, would imagine it's the same way with their interface.

yeah, there's a way, but OBVIOUSLY, it's not as easy as it should be, otherwise it'd be incorporated. First, you need a packet sniffer. I suggest (both are shareware) Commview or NetInfo. As far as i remember, both can be DLed from download.com. NetInfo is a monitoring/network suite that i prefer, but i also DLed CommView for it's advanced packet sniffing.

ANYWAYS....Open either CommView or NetInfo. In NI (netinfo), goto Connections. In CV (commview) goto start recording/monitoring (one of those). It will show all active transfers to and from your IP. Old morpheus and current kazaa use port 1214 for file sharing. This "trick" does not work with the new preview edition of morpheus.

Now...you're looking for any users running on port 1214. If you have a long list of DLs, then you will obviously see a long list of users running on port 1214. It's much more simple if you can have only one DL in your queue total, that way pinpointing your user will be easy. Next, using NetInfo, right click on the user and select "sendto lookup". This will provide an IP for that user. Next, right click on the IP (or enter manually into your web browser) and select "browse". You will get an error, so after the page loads, add a :1214 to the end of the IP. (should look like 123.456.123.456:1214, but substitute the correct IP).

I've found this to work 9 times out of ten. Occasionally, it won't work due to firewall/ZA security, but that's the chance you take. In the event this doesn't work, try messaging the user and ask him personally for his IP (or have him sign up at dns2go.com if he's insecure) and set up an FTP server or do direct downloads from him.

I just rambled a lot, so lemme know if this is unclear at all.
