Damn, first he admits to condoning torture, then he tucks tail and runs when confronted with evidence that he's wrong. Is this kid a typical Bush supporter?

I think we can break down the blind Bush supporters into several categories. I'm not going to name names so I can't give examples but this is a classification of the various kind of responses when you get to the breaking point of a P&N discussion. What is a breaking point? It's the point when a poster realizes they are full of it and that the other person knows it too.

The cut-and-runner: When faced with overwhelming facts, this poster just gives up and goes home. Simple as that, you won't hear from them again until the next time you own them on an absurd statement of theirs and they once again cut-and-run.

The rinse-and-repeater: this poster just repeates his original premise (or usually just wildly wrong statement). The poster isn't really listening, but just presents his belief as truth and just presents his belief as truth and just presents his belief as truth and just presents his belief as truth and just presents his belief as truth.

The questioner: when you ask this person a legitimate question they just return a question with a question. How do you support the 3 strikes law might lead to a question like, "So are you saying you think people that fornicate with donkeys should simply be let offf the hook?!" Often these questions have an indignant tone.

The personalizer: this poster attempts to drown out difficult situations in personal attacks. The poster will broaden the debate to include your overall personality and humanity until the discussion is so off topic that the original parties have forgotten the real issue he got owned on.

you should make your own thread with this as a topic, and sticky it.

imho

😀

Consider the results.

Back in the Clinton days, we had UNSCOM phycially inspecting facilities, we had 24/7 monitoring equipment set up there, and we actually had Pyongyang agreeing to dismantle aspects of their program.

Now inspectors aren't allowed to set foot in the country, the monitoring equipment was disabled, good ol Kim Il Jong has the scientists back hard at work, and thanks to cooperation with Iran, both countries are most likely nuclear. I thought Bush was to be commended for his attitude of "we shouldn't have to pay people to fulfill their obligations," but I wasn't expecting him to be so hamfisted and obtuse towards the negotiation process - the results of the past few years have been the exact opposite of what we wanted. Bush relying on China to somehow make it all go away will only make the situation worse. A communist regime with close ties to NK isn't going to go all the way in haggling in our best interests, it simply won't happen. Meanwhile, President Cheney with his PNAC inspired war has provided justification for these other regimes to acquire nuclear weapons.

Yep, damn fine job these neocons are doing.

They were to be light water plants for power generation.

Not that it matters anyway since NK proves time and again they can't be trusted.

This statement is a joke.

It hardly matters. We don't even have the military might to North Korea and they know this. Unfortunately, our army and economy is bogged down in Iraq so we will have to concede to whatever NK demands.

The people in North Korea barely have enough food to stay alive and can barely keep the electricity running. Half or more in North Korea would starve to death in the event of a war. Their military is pitiful and ill prepared. They would be slaughtered.

South Korea has a huge more modern Army compared to North Korea. The northern region is full of bunkers with machine gun implacements ready for use. They have Tank Traps set up and are ready to repel any attack from the north. However, Seoul the capital city of North Korea is close enough to North Korea to be shelled should war erupt.

Korea is a mountainous region in the north and would be hard to attack and harder to defend than people think. In some areas you have to traverse steep one lane roads going through mountainous passes, and traverse swift running Rivers. It snows quite often in the north and gets hot as hell in the summer.

The people who live in South Korea do not want a war with North Korea. It would be like attacking your own family. They may even have relations in the North. They hope beyond all odds to be reunited like the east and west Germans.

To start a War in North Korea, you would be inviting China to get involved. If that happens it could be a long bloody war.

I doubt if North Korea would ever use a nuclear device. To do so would be suicide, because the troops in the South probably have both sub surface nuclear devices on the border and tactical nuclear devices in country in the hands of the US. It would also make the land uninhabitable for at least 30 days. South Korea is a very small country and you can traverse it in an Automobile in a matter of hours. Planes in Japan could bomb North Korea into oblivion. A Nuclear cloud would cause havoc for Japan, Indonesia, China, and other areas depending on the wind currents at the time. To use nuclear bombs would be the Last Straw and we would just attack them anyway.

I think it should be a rule in P&N that when you tuck tail and run, like Danny, you have to make one final post before running away in shame..."Yipe, Yipe, Yipe". 🙂

All those in favor...

Oh hell who bloody well cares anymore. Saddamn, kim, what's it matter? These pissant nations, even with wmd, will do nothing against the US or its allies because they would be immediately wiped off the planet if they did. The only deterrent, truly, is to prevent them from being attacked. If Kimberly wants a few nukes to threaten against the US to perturb it from attacking then you can't really blame them, because once it's known beyond a shadow of a doubt that NK has nukes it suddenly becomes less attractive of a target, and it's not any real threat to the US. People in places of power with influence, running a country are not going to throw it all away (their life and freedom) just to watch a bomb go off in the US.
